How many Corners make it?

Three, plus injury replacements.

With his injuries, I wonder if Newman would even go if he's chosen.

With the other two times he's been snubbed, I think he'd go. He'd be one of the players that actually appreciates going to the Pro Bowl.

Of course, he'd get there late, along with the rest of the Cowboys, considering they'll be coming off a Super Bowl win...

Which NFC strong safety would you vote in over Roy?

(only solo tackles listed)
Deon Grant -- 52 tackles, 11 PDeF, 3 INT
Jermaine Phillips -- 64 tackles, 9 PDeF, 3 INT, 2 FF
Darren Sharper -- 39 tackles, 8 PDeF, 3 INT (1 for a TD), 1 FF
Atari Bigby -- 61 tackles, 8 PDeF, 2 INT, 3 FF
Kenoy Kennedy -- 42 tackles, 5 PDeF, 2 INT, 2 FF
Roman Harper -- 63 tackles, 8 PDeF, 2 INT, 1 FF
Michael Lewis -- 62 tackles, 6 PDeF, 2 INT, 1 FF

By comparison:
Roy Williams -- 58 tackles, 7 PDeF, 2 INT

I guess we should give Roy a pass, though. It's not his fault he can't get in on defense anymore ...

Having the best statistics in a single year does not mean someone is a better player. Your point, whether you realize it or not, is without merit.

It should, however, reflect on who goes to the Pro Bowl unless it's simply a 'popularity' contest...In which case, Roy should be embarrassed to even show up for the Pro Bowl....Guy has to be the most picked on SS in the league, let alone the NFC and he's gonna represent?

It's hard to say. Last year, Romo had better stats than Tom Brady. Does that make him a better QB? More deserving of his pro bowl invitation than Brady? Of course not. This year, Romo has better stats than Peyton Manning. Does that make him a better QB? More deserving of a pro bowl invitation than Manning? Of course not.

It's a balance of both overall ability, judged on this season and past, and in-season production. And clearly the vast majority of fans thought the balance weighed heavily in favor of Roy.

Really? Link?

Oh, that's right, we're just taking ridiculous statements at face value today.

Peyton has had one horrible game to Romo's this season and his excuse was more valid than Romo's. How is that of any comparrisson to Roy who regardless of what his groupies want to believe, is often the target of our pass D? Peyton is still playing at a Pro Bowl level, Roy isnt.

Ha ha.

It's the Dallas Cowboys vs. the AFC

Except....

Brett Favre is our starting quarterback.

Jerry has Romo just spying on Farve, so he can emulate him better ;)

It's a good thing Manning is in the AFC so he doesn't have to worry about being beat out by Romo.

And as for R.Will being "the most picked on" ... sadly, the NFL doesn't officially keep Burned for a Long Catch/Touchdown as a stat.

Because every football fan is a true scholar of the game. :lmao2:

There are records kept actually.

And Dallas as a team is one of the best in the league at minimizing the "big" plays.

Adam has the numbers.

Again, note how I said "officially".

I've got the stats the team keeps from game film somewhere, if those make a difference.

But if you used those, then you be hiding behind the stats and not facing reality.

Do you understand the difference between a STRONG safety and a FREE safety?

Those stats are kept. And they are accurate. Whether you want to face that truth or not.

Can't wait for Adam to come in here and slap you upside the head with those stats. Maybe it'll knock some sense into you.

Using factual evidence would be "hiding" and not facing reality?

More like you're hiding behind your agenda and ignorance and not facing the reality that those stats prove.

Hehe, Rack, I think he was being sarcastic, but I can see how you might get a little touchy about it. Personally, I'm sick of the assinine anti-Roy (despite the facts) contingent on this board.

Roy Williams is having a pedestrian season. He's still taking bad angles and struggling in coverage - something most of us pretty much take for granted any more.

But the real difference this year is in run support. Roy has missed tackles he used to make with ease. And when was the last season you could count his bone-jarring hits on one hand?

Top that off with the fact he hasn't had a sack or forced a fumble in about two full seasons...

Yeah, some of us are a little skeptical of Roy Williams the "2008 NFC Pro Bowl SS". If anything, it's a testament to the overall lousy play of NFC strong safeties that the guy is winning by default.

Oh, they're kept. But I don't imagine you have even the slightest clue where Roy ranks in that regard, though.

Gee, thanks for letting me know about "targeted" stats that teams keep based on game film.

Awesome.
