How many former players/coaches and analysts have to point out the problem areas to this organization.

Let romo be in a position to be a leader and he will be one.

Keep 81 around and he will always be the guy off the bench who needs to feed the hall of famer.

IF the locker room is fixed the guys will start leaning on the people they should. If not, we will get more I cant throw it and catch it and locker room fights.

:hammer:

Romo needs a strong coach who can be strict with his turnovers...someone who can help him mature...he still has the talent...he can get better

I agree and yet I wonder if that is possible.

We saw Brett Favre NEVER really get that under control. I see Romo going the same route.

The offensive linemen and the O-line coach need to make it a point to take pride in keeping Romo on his feet.

Romo is not as big physically as some other QB's.

It needs to be a priority to keep him healthy.

When he is healthy, he is plenty good enough to win with.

At this point, we just have to hope Roger Staubach is correct.

It is up to Tony Romo to prove it on the field.

How can anyone "not like" Tony Romo? He has a down year with a 90+ QB rating, when most other QBs can't sniff a 90 QB rating. The guy's amazing and one of the top 5 QBs in the league. At his best, he's top 3 and can do things the other top 3 simply can't.

Seriously, anybody who wants someone other than Tony as our QB is ********.
I agree, Tony just needs to protect the Ball a little more, remember few weeks ago, Gosselin said that Romo was a top 8 QB. We shouldn't be so quick to run him outta town.

Roger's saying what he's saying *because* Tony Romo has already shown it on the field. Don't know what Romo you've been watching.

I also forgot to add, from rogers interview yesterday with ben n skin.

Ben asked roger how Tom Landry would handle T.O.

Roger said He wishes tom was here to answer, then he said he thinks Tom would have seen what happened in SF and Philly and then not allowed him in Dallas.

Have fun with that one.

Roger Staubach: Tony Romo is really, really good and will get better

There are a lot of people in the Metroplex who have given up on the idea that Tony Romo can lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl title.

Roger Staubach, who knows a thing or two about championship quarterbacking, isn't one of them.

"I like Tony a lot," Staubach said during an interview on 105.3 The Fan's Ben & Skin Show.

"He makes things happen. It's a maturing process when you're a quarterback. You know, you've got to take charge. You've got to have responsibility. There are other players who can sure help you with that.

"But Tony is a really, really good quarterback, and I think he's going to get better."

Staubach isn't so sure what to think about T.O. He said he doesn't know T.O. and he restrained from offering an opinion about whether the Cowboys would be better off without their No. 1 WR.

How would Tom Landry have handled T.O.?

"It would have been interesting," Staubach said. "I think with what happened in San Francisco and Philadelphia, I'm not sure he would have had that problem."

Nah, can't be Roger. You're clearly wrong. Just listen to all the people here who've claimed he sucks, he'll always suck, he'll always choke, and every problem Dallas has in bad December slides is all his fault as well.

I actually agree with Roger, of course, but I'm sure there are plenty around here who will pretend they still know more than people who've played the game, and the position, and say that Romo sucks.

Roger won't say anything bad about anyone.

And if he's tempted, he bites his lip and won't say anything at all.

I don't have anything to say on the Owens debate. It's old hat. I don't care, one way or another whether he's on this team or not. I know that we're not as good as advertised with him and him not being here is not going to suddenly, magically, make this team smarter, and play better.

The Romo thing, in this particular topic, was more important to me. There are a couple of other TO topics here where I can discuss TO at length if I wish.

It's obvious I was speaking about Roger Staubach's comments about Tony Romo "getting better".

Right now Tony Romo is a good Quarterback in the Regular Season.

Roger Staubach and every sucessful quarterback reached this point, now Tony Romo has to prove that he can perform in the latter part of the Season and in the Playoffs.

As I stated already, with regards to "he will get better", that is TBD.

Only Roger didn't qualify anything. He's not talking about regular season only and he's not talking about 'so far.'

"He [Romo] makes things happen. It's a maturing process when you're a quarterback. You know, you've got to take charge. You've got to have responsibility. There are other players who can sure help you with that..."But Tony is a really, really good quarterback, and I think he's going to get better."

He's not saying anything is TBD. He's saying he's really, really good. You should appreciate him, and you're lucky fans that this really, really good player is likely to get better as he matures.

The point is, our HoF QB is giving unqualified praise to a starter who's reputation has taken an unfair beating on the board this offseason. Roger may not be right, but he's definitely giving his input on whether or not it's even worth talking about Tony Romo as part of the problem with this team.

good post.

ROger also said yesterday that he played alot like Tony and it drove landry crazy. He told a story to ben n skin of how he went into a meeting after the 79 season with landry to tell him he was retiring and landry started out by asking him if he would stop running and leaving the pocket so much not knowing he was there to say he was retiring!!!!!

So if romo can just clear his head, this organization can continue clearing out the locker room romo will be fine.

If everything comes back the same as last year, anything is possible, as laufenberg (who is his biggest supporter) said, if Tony doesnt get control of the turnovers he may be out of the league before long.

me personally, I have no doubt a season like this one will do nothing but motivated him to be great next year.

Again, that is what "you" took from the interview. As I stated before, my comments were regarding Roger Staubach stating, "I think he's going to get better".

In response to "that" comment, I stated that Roger Staubach's thoughts were "to be determined". Unless Tony Romo has gotten better since Roger Staubach made this statement, it remains and opinion and not a fact.

Furthermore, I am still amazed that people don't think Tony Romo was part of the problem last year. Tony Romo wasn't the only problem, by no stretch of the imagination but the guy is definately a part of the problem.

Now that doesn't mean the guy should be benched but he has to play better.

This isn't really a matter of opinion or semantics, so I'm not going to continue to argue about it.

You can take the opposite of what Roger explicitly says if you care to. And you can put part of the quote in large type and make the case that 'I think he's going to get better' is some sort of negative about Tony Romo's future. It doesn't change the fact that that's not what Roger said. If you're too entrenched to admit that Roger disagrees with you, that's fine. But that's a better way to argue against Romo's play last year than trying to twist this particular quote out of context.

Who said Roger Staubach's comments were negative?

What I stated was that his "opinion" that Tony Romo will get better remains to be seen.

As Roger Staubach stated, Tony Romo is a good quarterback. However, it remains to be seen if he takes that next step and becomes a "great" Quarterback, which is what he would be "if" he gets better as Roger Staubach believes he will.

Fair enough. If the debate is between whether or not Romo is really, really, good, or great, then I'm not going to quibble. I hope he gets better, too.
