Tony Romo spoke to the media Thursday. We'll have several installments as to what he said over the course of the day.
Here's the first.
"Anybody who has gone through this or played the position for an extended period of time knows what this is like,'' Romo said of the atmosphere the week after a loss. "I heard Troy Aikman say one time, 'I don't know that a lot of people in the building even know what you go through some times.'
"It's a fair assessment in some ways because not unlike the head coach, you get a lot of the blame and a lot of the credit. Whether it's right or wrong, who knows. But I do know that people are going to talk about it and that's part of the position.
"I love to talk to Troy and some of the other guys just to gain an understanding of what their psyche was, their mind, and different areas to help try and improve, to help yourself go through the process in the right way. You know, the neat thing when I talk to them is they didn't all have...it wasn't all lollipops and chocolate and fun times along the way. It was a lot of hard work and effort and people beating you down.
"You have to have a stronger belief in yourself than the disbelief of others. I think that's part of the mental makeup you have to have to play the position and move forward.''
