I don't think Glenn will be here next year and this has nothing to do with money.

I don't think Glenn will be able to go through another full season without a reconstructive knee surgery. he opted for minimal invasive surgery just to have a chance to participate this season knowing that he still needed reconstructive surgery after that.

knowing that and knowing that that kind of surgery will end the 08 season for him as sad as it is for me i expect Terry Glenn to end his career at the end of this season.

:starspin I agree with you that Glenn will be done after this year, and it has nothing to do with money. With his knee, I would be amazed if he can continue playing after this year. I would like to see him continue, but I doubt that the knee will be able to hold up for any length of time after this season.

Why do you think Glenn is gone? Do you think he is going to retire because of his knees? If so what was the point to him having a less evasive procedure done in the hopes of still being able to play? If he is going to be gone next season why not just go for the surgery he was trying to avoid in the first place?

You make a very intelligent point LW. I think Glenn really "took one for the team" by opting use the surgical option which would allow for the swiftest return to play. I actually think Glenn made a bad decision because I'm not sure it was to his benefit to do so.

cut or trade Roy W.

Roy just signed a new deal last year with 11.1 milion in guaranteed money. A move like this would add about 6 million (minus his salary) to the '08 cap.

Franchising Adams would probably cost us in the $7-8 million dollar range, for just next year. Not a smart move IMO.

LT franchise in and around 10 million in past years

This kind of got lost in Monday's paper, but the Cowboys re-signed tight end Tony Curtis to a one-year deal worth $445,000.

Why is it newsworthy? The Cowboys added a million not likely to be earned incentive in his contract - playing 55 percent of the special teams' snaps and blocking four kicks - that would add $3.5 million in cap room in 2008.

Since Curtis didn't block four kicks, the Cowboys have added $3.5 million in space.

Archer is a little off. They didn't re-sign Curtis to a one-year deal worth $445,000, they merely added a bogus $3.5 million incentive to his existing contract (which is for a $360,000 base salary). He's still unsigned for next season, when he'll be an EFA. If he was under contract for next season, then the amount of the incentive would have to be prorated over this year and next year, essentially defeating the whole purpose of exploiting the loophole. (It would have added only $1.75 million to this year's cap, instead of $3.5 million, and pushing that $1.75 million forward would be negated by the $1.75 million charge added to next year's cap. We'd have to wait until 2009 to get that $1.75 million to spend, rather than having $3.5 million in 2008.)

That brings their total space up to about $16.75 million for next year

I'm not sure why, but Archer seems to be off by about $2 million.

NOT including the amount pushed forward, we have $99.895 million committed to next year's cap right now (the cap is projected to be about $116 million). I'm guessing we'll get a cap adjustment of about $1.5 million (more cap room) after all of the charges and credits are applied -- the Curtis credit, minus leftover incentive charges from this season (playing time incentives for Spencer and Hamlin, as well as Adams' Pro Bowl incentive). And we'll add another $1.08 million in cap room when the contracts of Barber, Canty and Julius Jones void. Altogether, the current projection would put us roughly $18.7 million under next year's cap, pending any signings or tenders.

Adam, I'd love to get your take on who you think we resign and who you think we'll let walk via FA or as the result of being cut...
