The heat index at Valley Ranch hit triple digits for the second consecutive day, but I've yet to hear any players complain about the heat.

In fact, some Cowboys are more than happy to trade to move from the Alamodome turf to the Valley Ranch grass, no matter the increase in temperature.

Roy Williams is one of those. He mentioned that the foot that nagged him last season still flares up from time to time, especially when he's working twice a day on turf. Patrick Crayton is also anti-Alamodome.

"It's good to get back on some grass," Crayton said. "We've been playing on fake stuff and my body feels it.

"There is nothing like the smell of good grass."

That last line sounds like something Quincy Carter would say.

We'll have details after Wade Phillips' press conference. Time to grub now.

Wow, I'm surprised he'd say something like that. Fairly unprofessional.

Hurd, Spears Not Practicing
Posted by nickeatman at 8/25/2009 2:46 PM CDT on truebluefanclub.com

The Cowboys resumed practice at Valley Ranch on Tuesday, but did so without two key players. Wide receiver Sam Hurd, the star of training camp who has played well in two preseason games, did not practice because of a nagging quad injury.

Defensive end Marcus Spears did not practice as well. His injury is still unknown, although he appeared to be favoring an ankle or foot.

Hopefully, head coach Wade Phillips will have more on those injuries and others in his daily press conference that should take place around 3:15 p.m. (CDT).

I hope Spears and Hurd get back on the field soon...
Yeah, if there's one thing we don't need this year it's freaking injuries to key players.

Hey! Tim MacMahon said something remotely funny. Mods, can we get a sticky?

Well a few hours ago someone started the “not to jinx, lack of injuries” thread. When i saw that, i knew something bad was in store today.

:laugh2: he deleted so that noone could bring it back up once someone gets hurt, classic.

If you watch the interview, that was taken out of context. It isn't all he said and they were talking about turf at the time.

Wade said the injuries are very minor. Hurd has been banged up a little, so they held him out as a precaution. Spears just had a bruised quad or something and should practice tomorrow.

More reason Cowboys Stadium should have real grass like Reliant.

Thanks, that's very good news for us.

every time wade says an injury is minor or nothing I expect amputation or death to follow soon after.

Spears, Hurd held out

Defensive end Marcus Spears and receiver Sam Hurd were held out of Tuesday’s practice for precautionary measures. Spears has a bruised knee and likely will practice Wednesday, coach Wade Phillips said. Hurd felt general soreness.
