When it is a NFC vs AFC game, the game belongs to the road teams conference, since the games Are the Boys at Cleveland and Pitt, the games would belong to Fox.

Just look at the Thanksgiving game from last year. Jets at Boys. It was a CBS game.
Oh I got you. I was thinking he meant Cleveland versus Pittsburgh. My bad.

Correct. The networks travel with their teams when the conferences play each other. The road team, New England last season, was on CBS, when they went to Dallas.

good point. I didnt think of it that way. You can bet both those games will be primetime games then.

The thanksgiving game last year though is just a rotational thing though. I dont think that fits in with that.

Actually even Thanksgiving plays into that also. Detoit and us alternate each year between AFC teams. This is Detroit's year to play a AFC team, so they will be on CBS.

It rotates every year for us.... AFC.....NFC.....etc.

2007 - Jets
2006 - Bucs
2005 - Broncos
etc

There's also recent rumblings of McNabb to Baltimore-doubt if McNabb will be going anywhere, but if the opening Sun night game is Balt @ Dallas, who knows? Maybe there's some meat to it then.

Yes I know it rotates every year. I believe that is just so that fox wont get the ratings bonanza that is the cowboys at 3:15. I dont think it has anything to do with anything other than that, so it is rotated to each network each year.

I dont think it has anything to do with how they handle the rest of the season though.

sold out.

I am going to guess we open with seattle at home or baltimore on the road.

San Francisco or washington for turkey day.

Cleveland on a monday night on espn.

Pittsburgh on a sunday night. Although cbs will fight like crazy to keep the cleveland and pittsburgh games.
Washington to close.

At ny for a sunday night.

those are FOX games because they are at the AFC Team

Yep that has been called to my attention.

and so, fox will fight like crazy to keep the steelers game.

In the end I think both will be primetime games, either nbc, espn or nfl network.

I agree with you. It would not be good business for 1 of the networks to get all the Lions games every Thanksgiving and the other network get all the Boys games. It would not be good for the network stuck with the Lions.

Rotating the games is the right thing to do.

Aren't the Lions in Eastern Time Zone? Maybe that's why they always get the early games?

Anyhow-at least the Lions DO get decent opponents(look like it'll be either Jax/TN this year), so I'm satisfied.

Are you sure about that? Cleveland(where most of my relatives are) are in Eastern time-and most of the time I fly up there, I go via Detroit, where I always land in Eastern Time.

Maybe you are right, I thought for sure they were Central.

I'll be at the Rams game, whenever that is. Glad I only have to go 3 hrs away to see a game. Though I would like to see one more game at TS. I guess I'll have to settle for a game at the new stadium next year (Please be the Chiefs!). Wait, maybe I should hope they play the Chiefs in KC, then I can see 2 games, one in Dallas, and one here....hmmm.
