Should Jerry give Matt Millen a call?
The Lions reportedly are shopping the second overall pick in the draft. They want to move down and pick up several picks in the process.

Should Jerry call Lions GM Matt Millen to feel him out? Millen has a rep for being a moron, so slick Jerry might be able to swindle a good deal.

Georgia Tech WR Calvin Johnson, a 6-5, 239-pound physical freak who ran a 4.35 40, is considered the draft's top prospect by many experts. But he's expected to be available with the second pick, since the Raiders will probably take LSU QB JaMarcus Russell.

Or the Cowboys could take Oklahoma RB Adrian Peterson, then actively shop Julius Jones to get back a couple of draft picks. I know I said the Cowboys were smart to keep Julius, but this could be a chance to get a special back without giving up too much.

Jerry needs your help. What would you give up to move up to No. 2? And who would you take if the Cowboys got that pick?

Dear Dallas Morning News,

Don't you have someone better than Tim McMahon to blog about the Cowboys? Ed McMahon would know more about football and the team than he does.

Thanks.

Agreed.

If I'm not mistaken, McMahon is a basketball writer. His blog schtick is acceptable on the mavs blog, but the 'boys? I don't think so.

Name the last team that traded from the 20s to the top 3. Practically unheard of.

:hammer:

You'd think it's a piece of cake. Especially if the GM is an idiot. Someone would have fleeced the Cardinals by now if this was easy.

I miss the regular beat writers. This guy doesn't seem to know the Cowboys at all. He may know a little football, but it sure isn't translating well.

In real life or Madden?

Speaking of being "divorced from reality," check out some of these inane draft questions:

BUCK SHOTS
Drafting up means casting off Mr. Jones

By Ray Buck
Star-Telegram Staff Writer

FIRST SHOT:The Cowboys really need to draft a running back. Two running backs mean you have no running back.

I say trade Julius Jones and your 22nd pick for a chance at Adrian Peterson.

-- Ryan English, Burleson

BUCKSHOT: Jerry Jones has made it clear that Julius is not on the trade block, which means he's pretty much gone if something breaks.

SECOND SHOT: Would Jerry work his magic and trade up to the No. 3 spot and draft AP? Just look at the Cowboys' Super Bowl history: Duane Thomas, Tony Dorsett, Emmitt Smith... Adrian Peterson.

-- Chris Calton, Fort Worth

BUCKSHOT: There's a better chance Mark Cuban will draft Kevin Durant.

THIRD SHOT: Package Julius Jones, for instance, and the No. 22 pick, and trade up for Peterson... and, if needed, throw in Anthony Fasano. Short of that, draft a young, strong, talented offensive lineman.

-- David Glick, Las Colinas

BUCKSHOT: Fasano? Fasano? You kidding me? Fasano? To jump 19 to 20 spots, the Cowboys would need to give up two first-round picks (2007-08), DeMarcus Ware and four 50-yard line seats at Jerry World beginning in 2009.

FOURTH SHOT: I don't think the 'Boys should target one particular player with the 22nd pick. Jerry just needs to draft to his board.

With that said, however, if a "pressure player" in the front seven is available, take him. Quentin Moses from Georgia and Adam Carriker of Nebraska come to mind.

We all know what happened once Greg Ellis went down. The defense couldn't get to the QB. That was the main reason this team fell down the stretch.

-- Sean Hanson, Parsippany, N.J.

BUCKSHOT: A defensive collapse won't happen under Wade Phillips.

FIFTH SHOT:I say trade the 22nd pick to the Raiders for Randy Moss.

Jerry Jones needs more than one "act" (read: T.O.) to fill up the new Big Top in Arlington, and adding another prima donna like Moss should enrage T.O. enough to really liven up the circus.

-- Paul "The Ringmaster" Wooten, Dallas

BUCKSHOT: Circus? That's a freak show.

LAST SHOT: Move up or move down.

Either get more picks for added depth or go for the gold and mortgage a piece of the future for a stud wide receiver or pass-rusher.

-- Victor Ayala, Dallas

BUCKSHOT: Thanks a lot, I'm exhausted. And the draft is still six weeks away.

For a while there I thought you wanted Jerra to get Millen's advice. And that Millen is one dumb son of a gun.

I don't see the need to sacrifice draft picks to get a promising RB
to replace an already hardened veteran.

With the new O line showing signs of a rebirth and maybe another FA signing, JJ can have an outstanding year. With Parcells gone and not bad-mouthing him and WP encouraging him, JJ cannot help but have an exceptional year.

Such a proposed deal with the Lions or others would be a lot of work toget what we already have. A good RB.

Would it be awesome to move up to the second pick and get Peterson , yes. Would it be worth it? :bang2:..no . i dont know what id say even if jerry did that lol

Highly doubt millens just going to give that away for the 22 pick and just a few random picks here and there.

Amen to that. The cowboys blog has become an embarrasment.

If they are going to put no effort into it, dont have it.
