DMN: BLOG: Terence Newman's status in question for season opener

i'll go ahead and say it... if Tnew does not play, we will lose this game. problem is that if we move henry inside to play winslow (which they have to do), that leave Pacman (his first regular season game in over a year) and Jenkins (his first game ever) to cover Edwards and Stallworth. That is not a good matchup for us at all. On another note, I am sick of the misinformation from VR, all week we have heard that Newman fully participated in practice and all of a sudden it's "we don't know" ....
I wouldn't go this far, but I will say it will become much more of a shootout, course it already was going to be a shootout anyway.

If we don't score 30, dont expect to win this game if we are without TNew. Course we can score 30 pretty easy, so lets play.

I am concerned about TNew having these nagging injuries, especially with the age of which we drafted him in the first place, but can't do anything about that now.

I think for my self Sir...
I have to add at least (edit)Ellis actually put out there that Newman would play rather than go the chicken little route that Timmy went with. and Phillips article was also a fair assessment of what was actually discussed but for those that heard the pc it still came across that Wade just didn't want to give out who was playing come sunday.

my biggest concern for this game is we do not take advantage of their secondary. recent history has proven we do not always attack a teams weakness.

I expect Tnew to play but he cant then this will set off a chain reaction in our secondary which we have not planned for.

Yep...

Wade also made the distinction (after someone asked) that TN wasn't limited physically, but that the team limited his work. As in, his injury isn't any worse, we just want to work him in slowly.

It did sound like there was a good chance Pacman would start, but Wade wasn't definite about anything.

I think its a strong possibility that Pacman starts at right corner with Henry inside covering Winslow.

Try listening to the PC instead of letting mediots think for you then.
Sage advice, fellow posters, sage advice.

Rich Dayrymple (PR director) or someone said that Terence Newman isn't limited physically but that the coaches are choosing to limit his exposure.

And Wade agreed.

We are going to be cautious with T-New, improved positional depth not withstanding, we are going to take every preventative measure we feel necessary with this player.

I take strong offense to this statement sonny boy....I simply posted the article and replied to your comment with a link to another article. I never offered an opinion other than I think we win whether Newman starts or not.

The day I need you to tell me how to form an intelligent opinion...I'll be sure and call on you...but if I were you I wold not hold my breath.

Best thought is no dependence on Reeves this year. They will be ok. The bottom 3 of the 5 best are all much better than what they had last year.

How could anyone who actually listened to Wade think negative about Tnews situation? He was playing games first of all, second he just wants to work TNEW in slowly cause he hasnt played nothing to do with his health at all.

Newman will play. No worries.

exactly.Your avatar has my only true hero in it btw.lol.G.O.A.T.

As I've said in other threads, TNew could be special if healthy but the last few years.......this is too much of a pattern.

They should work him in slow. Exactly what the Docs and trainers are telling them to do. He'll play and hopefully he won't pull it again.

Adam Jones is not quite ready to play. I suspect it will be a few games before he is.

I would love to see Scandrick in the game but not at the expense of an injury; which is likely to be the case.

I think Newman will play. And if he doesn't who have 21 other starters who know how to play and the backups aren't to shabby either. Not having Newman will not break this team, if it does, we are weak and not playoff bound.

Rest him. We need him 100% and we have depth that needs some starting time.

Well unless hes on IR, or out for a few weeks, I don't believe anything any coach say regarding players health.
