Time to give up on Pacman?

With this latest story of Pacman Jones being extorted, is it time for the Cowboys to move on and give up their attempt to trade for Jones?
In the beginning, I was OK with this because of the low cost to get a big-time talent. I figured it was worth the risk. The latest just kind of set me back to Jacques Taylor's side of this argument. There's always something with Pacman. If he was being extorted, did he tell Commissioner Goodell or was the NFL caugth off guard? Would this affect reinstatement?
I'm ready to say forget Pacman, go after Lito Sheppard.
The Eagles have made the Cowboy killer available now that they signed Asante Samuel in free agency. Sheppard has had a hard time staying healthy. He's played 16 games just once in his career. But he's only 27 and can make plays.
Would Philly deal him in the division? They have done trades with the Cowboys in the past, allowing them to get back in the first round last year to take Anthony Spencer. Maybe they wouldn't be so reluctant as you think. They know him better than anybody. They know his flaws as much as his skills. Part of the reason Bill Belichick wasn't afraid to send Drew Bledsoe to Buffalo in 2002 is because he knew everything about Bledsoe.
DeAngelo Hall cost Oakland a second round pick this year and a fifth rounder next year.
What would you give up to get Sheppard?
-----------------------
per John Clayton
Sheppard sweepstakes: Three teams are showing interest in Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard. The price could come down to a No. 2 pick. The Rams are one of the interested teams, but the Eagles won't deal Sheppard unless they get satisfactory value. Talks were expected to pick up this week and they have.
