Speaking after Wednesday's morning workout Tony Romo refuted a report from earlier this week that offensive coordinator Jason Garrett had a meeting to discuss the quarterback's conditioning.

"There was no such meeting," Romo said. "We live in a world where it's sensationalized. When you see something or hear something, you write it. That's completely false. If there's anything those guys tell me, it's to throttle back sometimes just because I do a lot of running playing soccer and basketball and stuff to stay in shape, plus the stuff we do. So when you hear stuff like that, people don't know."

On Monday Romo talked about the importance of maintaining his conditioning during the course of the season and that he will do more clean and squat work in the weight room to be stronger later in the season.

"I mean, [clean and squat lifting] is not an explosive move to be a quarterback against an opponent," Romo said. "But I feel it's been very beneficial to me over the years to do that. And as you do that going forward, it only helps you continue to take hits during the year. I think that was the whole mindset. The goal was to be able to have strong legs at the end of the year to withstand some of the shots you take as the season progresses."

Owner and general manager Jerry Jones said earlier Romo has weighed 222 the last three years. On the roster handed out during mini-camp he is listed at 224 pounds.

This sounds like something out of the Parcells/Testeverde handbook..

Every year there is more and more BS surrounding this team, if it's not chemistry and T.O. , it's who is the leader, and this one really takes the cake, Garrett telling Romo he's to bottom heavy.

All I can say is wow, the media doesn't want this team to progress, it's a fact, even our very own beat writer with all his infinite wisdom.. JJT says we'll be an 8-8 team this year. ( His opinion really holds plenty of merit) :lmao:

I'm happy we're rid of the distractions, yet they ( the mediots) continue to try to create more.

I'm trying my best not to listen, but I'm hoping the players are listening and give them all a great big helping of humble pie to eat.

Flying low under the radar is how I like it.

Yes, this is sports journalism. Since there's nothing of real consequence they can run any story based on whatever flimsy quote they get.

heard Irvin on Cowherd this morning, Cowherd asked him about this and Irvin stated something to the effect that this was crazy to be even talking about, that Romo is always in great shape . said that Romo kills him playing basketball and not many beat him like Romo does... said Romo is a great athlete and is involved in so many sports that he keeps in great shape all year round...
I went by memory so this is far word for word

All good must obviously be ascribed to Jason Garrett, because TO is no longer here to prevent him from doing his job last year...

Thank You!!!

Somebody gets it.

The more I hear Romo talk the more I am leaning to the side that he will never be more than what he is today.

The interview with Lauffenberg really startled me. Romo's comment about people coming to him with good advise on how to beat the other team and not tell him how to lead.

Then him telling Babe they need to swap chairs and Tony will ask about his career. Then followed by saying that will be a short conversation.

Petulance is not a character trait I want to see in my quarterback.

Neither is arrogance when you've double-bogied two Decembers in a row.

But what really steams my cabbage is it appears that I care more about this team and post season than the guy getting paid 60+ million who has control of that destiny.

one simple way to rid of these made up stories - DO NOT ALLOW ANY PLAYER to speak to the media. DO NOT ALLOW ANY MEDIA into practice or locker rooms. Simple. Make them realise that we wont put up with lies and all this BS. F em all.

Romo plays soccer? I love this guy

Yep, he plays in local league for adults probably. Not sure Indoor or Outdoor though.

Heck I had friends who played three man Flag football against Bradie james and couple of other cowboys players.
