While I will be very depressed if we lose to the Vikes Sunday, the idea that "we will not be viewed as complete failures" is just dumb.

THIS SEASON HAS ALREADY BEEN SUCCESSFUL!!!!

1. We swept both the Skins and Eagles this year.

2. We were the first team to beat the Saints this year.

3. We finished December/January with a winning record, 1st time since 96.

4. We won our season ending game for the first time in 9 years.

5. We won the NFC East for a 2nd time in 3 seasons.

6. We finally won our first playoff game by beating the Eagles a 3rd time.

7. We sent 6 guys to the probowl, the second highest in the league.

8. Wade finally has his first career playoff win.

9. Romo finally has his first career playoff win.

10. We openned a new stadium and had a very good 7-2 record at home.

Here are 10 reasons why this year has been a success. For anybody to say that this season was a failure is beyond stupid. This has been one of the best seasons of Cowboys football in a very, very, very, long time around these parts. Sure I want to beat the Vikes and then beat the Cards/Saints and then go to the SuperBowl and win that too, but if we dont it doesnt mean the season is a failure.

If I gave anybody on this board this list in August and asked if they would take it, 99% of this board would have said HELL YES........so how can this season be a failure if we dont advance to the NFCCG then????

If you dont win - you have failed. 31 teams fail, your team is part that failure.

I go by what Troy says... I mean he has 3 SB's. He had a chance at probably 5.

One playoff wins is good but doesnt mean anything. Next year we are not guaranteed a playoff game or NFC title game or SB or what have you...

DO IT NOW!

We win this game, we'll roll the Saints or Cards.

The Cardinals can score points, the Saints defense is a fluke - we get the Birds in our house and we'll make up for last seasons OT loss when we lost Romo and McBriar.

The Saints D is healthy again. We CAN beat them, but to think we're going to "roll" them is laughable.

It is foolish to think that because you beat a team during regular season means you can beat them in playoffs.

Think about it... teams used to think that about us in the 90's - then we would crush them when it counted.

The Saints would be a tough game.

The Saints also have a coach that can disect almost all NFL defenses given time...no, the Cowboys still have to prove their end of playoff metal to have credability. At this stage, credability and the fickled lady 'mo' is all important.

Meh, I think the Saints are lost right now. Actually, I think the Cards will take em. Payton opted for more practice to right the ship and I think the first sign of trouble will capsize that little boat.

I think Wade's D could snuff Payton's offense again.

Troy is still upset his "boy" Aaron Rodgers lost.

Go cry somewhere else.

Aikman's not happy unless the now Cowboys are losing. It pains him to watch Romo win and destroy all his passing marks. The only thing Aikman can cling to right now is 3 rings.

If Romo gets a ring, look out. Aikman will be torqued to the max.

 hmmmmmmm............What?

I sure hope the team looks at it that way.

The thing is, Dallas can't win the Superbowl on Sunday. The best they can do is beat the Vikings. The worst they can do is lose the game and finish the season with a single playoff victory.

Is one enough for them? I hope not.

When I was younger (and thinner :) ), I used to do a little distance running. One of the things you experience running is a constant battle between the desire to quit and the desire to surpass your personal best.

The interesting thing for me was that the moment I felt either satisfied by what I had done or overwhelmed by the task in front of me was invariably the moment I felt like I couldn't go anymore. But if I told myself to keep up the pace for just 50 more strides and just focus on that task alone, I could almost always do it.

So, I would just run 50 more strides. And when I finished those, I would decide to run 50 more.

And I would do it again. And again.

And again.

Until finally, I would have not only reached my goal, but surpassed it.

The thing is, when you use this technique, you always "fail." The body can't overcome its physical limitations just because you decide to keep going. But 99% of the time, it's not a hard limit that stops a person. The noodle-legged marathon runner trying to make it the last 100 yards is the exception that proves the rule.

And when I did fail, and my focus broadened from those 50 strides I was hoping to complete, I was invariably proud of what I have achieved. I had run a half mile further than I had planned or run the course 15 seconds faster than my best time.

So I hope the team isn't satisfied. I hope they convince themselves to make one more play. And then when they make that play, I hope they will convince themselves to make another.

And then they'll make another. And another.

And another.

Eventually they'll stop making plays, and it will all be over. And when they look up from their job of making the next play, they will have went farther and reached higher than anyone thought they could.

I don't know how far or how high that will be, but it just might be a Championship.

It would be a disappointment....Aikman is a 100% correct and anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.

I agree with Jerry Jones, if he indeed feels like the Season isn't a success if we lose Sunday.

I am a big believer in "adjusting" the expectations of a team as the season progresses.

I believe it would be foolish to think this is a successful Season just because members of the media said we weren't going to make the Playoffs back in September.

Clearly the team that stepped on the field when the Season started is a lot different then the team that is playing right now.

The Season wouldn't be a failure if we lose Sunday, but I don't know if you can say it was a successful one given the fact that we are the most healthiest team in the league, Tony Romo is playing an MVP level and the Defense has been playing at a very elite level.

I understand what you are saying, but there are only 8 teams still playing football in a 32 team league. So saying the season is not successful if we lose is just crazy, under this definition 75% (24/32 teams eliminated) of the league are failures.

That is just crazy. When you are one of the last 8 standing, YOU HAD A GOOD FREAKING SEASON!!! Sure we all want to win this weekend and go to the NFCCG, but only 4 teams in the league make it. Does that mean that the other 28 teams have failed miserably???

Look, the season is not over with and we need to be thankful that we are not part of the 75% of the league that will be watching from their couch this weekend. Hell yes we all want to win, but if we should lose to the Vikes it doesnt mean this year was not successful. We finally won a freaking playoff game for the first time in forever!!!!

I'm a little surprised about the beating Aikman is taking in this thread. It's not like he picked us to go 7-9. He simply said the ownership would be disappointed by one and done. I think that is accurate. I know I will be. Those that think Aikman is happy when the Boy's lose are just plain nuts.

Bingo!
We may have most or all players back next year, but then a key player goes down for the year. Or maybe 2 of them.

Next thing you know we are a sub .500 team and all we can do is reminisce on how great it would have been to have gone or won the super bowl when we had that great, healthy team in 2009-10 season.
