I would prefer Felix to only return 1 KO a game.....and I am sure everyone else in this site would agree with me.....

Felix is a better all around running back than Barber.

There, I said it. :)

I don't agree with that but again that's your opinion. I think Felix is a special player though but MBIII is as well.

Uh gee, ya think Wade? This young kid is too special not to get the ball in his hands more...
Youd think Red Jesus would be smart enough to get him more involved.

Swinging a few passes out of the backfield to Jones would of taken any blitzing ideas out of the iggles (or any other teams) heads real fast.
Doing that and have Jones break off a 50 yarder will rip the aggressiveness out of any defense.
For the record, I believe it will be coming, soon.
I wasn't sure what to make of the draft pick, but from what I have seen so far I believe Jones can score any time he touches the ball in the open field. Think a faster, shifter version of Westbrook.
It will make this offense practically unstoppable with another home run hitter in addition to TO.

Felix Jones Is No Norwood, He Is A Future Dorsett/terrell Davis Type Of Back...time To Get Him In There Alot More...it Will Save Barber In The Longrun And Keep Him Healthy For The Playoffs...the Way We Are Going Now Barber Wont Make It To The 2nd Half Of The Season!

or Maybe he is being smart and not overwhelm him with too much right away. Let him grow into this offense, because to be honest we dont need him touching the ball 10-15 times right now, we might at the end of the season but not now.

I wanna see the screen to Felix!!!:starspin

I was about to type a message almost identical to yours! I'm really surprised that more screen plays have not been called for Felix, especially against an agressive defense like the Eagles.

In hindsight, us Mendenhall proponents have to admit Felix was the better pick. Even with him NOT getting that many carries, he's so much the better fit. From what I saw of Mendenhall in the preseason, he reminds me of Julius in that I don't think he's suited for a complementary, backup role. Neither seems good in a reserve role.

Seeing how we use Felix is what I'm most interested about this season. Do we get truly creative with him, letting him run routes from a slot position? Or is that simply not his skill? Do we try to get him the ball on bubble screens, a la a Bush or Hester? Or, again, is that not really his game? Or, are we looking at a situation where faking an end around to Felix, and handing off to Barber, and then running the same play but giving it to Felix, is the extent of how creative we can be with him?

One thing's for sure, he's creeping up the list of our offensive playmakers. It's getting to the point where you think of Felix, too, when throwing out the names Romo, Owens, Witten and Barber. He has to have been about one tackle away from breaking it on 1/3 of his carries so far. Adds a true element that has to be out there on the field.

Get err done, Jason.

Yessirie, Wade. Lots more Jones in the game plan.

I think he will be rookie of the year.

I'm not surprised that they haven't gotten him more involved since we have so many weapons on offense.

I'm surprised though that no one has mentioned that we have so many weapons like they used to do when we had Emmitt, Irvin, Aikman, Novacek, etc.

the fact that this is just now occuring to our head coach is troubling.

Just having him on the field makes a defense take notice, he's a very intimidating decoy even if he's just munching on popcorn watching TO.

Felix should get the ball from the slot whether it be a pass or a reverse...

Just get him the rock and watch him play big...

This team still isn't quite equipped with the weapons that the 90s squad enjoyed.

Aikman was the better quarterback.

Irvin and TO are a wash, TO being the better wideout but Irvin having leadership intangibles.

Emmitt is about equal to having both Barber and Felix.

Moose trumps all fullbacks forever more.

Jay Novacek was great but dare I say Witten is better.
Plus Dallas' tight end depth is superior to the 90s.

The 90s o-line out weighs the modern one in talent but not in the literal pound for pound sense.

Alvin Harper, Kevin Williams and Kelvin Martin and the occasional Deion Sanders probably tip the scales in favor of the 90s over Miles Austin, Patrick Crayton and Sam Hurd.

Nick Folk is better than any kicker Dallas had in the 90s be it Lin Elliot, Eddie Murray or Chris Boniol.

By my count they are tied in two categories but the 90s Cowboys out gain the modern manifestation at 4 key skill positions versus 2 that favor today's squad.

STARTING LINE UP COMPARISON:

1992 Cowboys 2008 Cowboys

LT- Mark Tuinei LT- Flozell Adams
LG- Nate Newton LG- Kyle Kosier*
C- Mark Stepnoski C- Andre Gurode
RG- John Gesek RG- Leonard Davis
RT- Erik Williams RT- Marc Colombo

QB- Troy Aikman QB- Tony Romo
RB- Emmitt Smith RB- Marion Barber
FB- Daryl Johnston FB- Deon Anderson

TE- Jay Novacek TE- Jason Witten
WR- Michael Irvin WR- Terrell Owens
WR- Alvin Harper WR- Patrick Crayton

K- Lin Elliot K- Nick Folk

I included kickers just for Hos:D;)

In other news, Wade Phillips says we need to get our CBs more involved in our defense.

Uhhhh...

The current offense is much more lethal than that of the early 90's.

If I wanted to grind a game out then I'm taking Troy & company.

If I need points lightning quick then the 2007/2008 version is the one I'm going with.

Funny, when it's Wade's fault, he's an idiot. When it's Garrett's fault, he is being smart.
