What's the harm, if any, in luring him from Green Bay with a hefty raise (like the one Garrett received from Jerry to keep him from turning down the Baltimore/Atlanta Head Coaching offers) and by throwing in a token "Assistant Head Coach" position in order to get it done?

The NFL got rid of using the phony titles for "promotions" a few years ago. Now teams don't have to let assistants go unless it's for head coach.

With nepotism helping to pay the bills, of course you feel that way, Wes.

Wes has been exposed to life in the NFL long enough to know that this is just part of the business. Wade took over for Bum in New Orleans when Bum was fired it is a bottom line business and if you take it too personally then you have no business coaching in the NFL.

What's the old saying, "in the NFL there are two kinds of coaches. Those who have been fired, and those who will be fired." Some of them beat the odds by retiring, but that's the only way the rule above doesn't hold true.

Wes Phillips, a quality control coach on offense, talked to his father, Wade, last on Tuesday and said his father is "doing as good as he can be."

"My prediction is he gets a defensive coordinator job with a team that has a bad defense and a poor team and they go win a bunch of games and kick ***," Wes said. "That's what he's done my whole life. I don't expect any different."

the artichoke doesn't fall far from the tree. Wes's "quality control" didn't work, so why is he still employed?

Maybe, now, with Garrett as interim HC, Wes will flower as a "quality control" coach.
