The Cowboys have gained more yards through the first seven games than at any time over the last 33 years. They are coming off a game where six players ran the ball and 10 players had receptions, a show of diversity that has occurred only one other time in club history.

With three rushers gaining more than 230 yards, four receivers with more than 240 yards and nine different players who have found the end zone, this group rivals the prolific offense of the 2007 team that went 13-3.

"Don't take anything away from that group,'' tight end Jason Witten said. "But this year, there are so many different ways to get the ball.

"Sometimes it's not even planned. It's not like, 'oh, we're going to throw this drag here to Sam Hurd.''

That would be the crossing pattern Hurd turned into a 36-yard touchdown against Seattle Sunday afternoon. Does anyone believe the plan was for Miles Austin to amass 482 yard receiving in the last three games after managing just 81 yards in the first four or for the team to rush for 251 yards against the New York Giants?

"You still have a system and a technique and all of those things, but I mean now, there are so many ways it can unfold,'' Witten said. "That's special.''

What do "Romo Friendly" mean...

I guess we know. Get rid of the guy that demands the ball, so the QB that can read the whole field can throw to the open guy.

You mean this offense is talented that they score outside the system and technique?

Garrett has this offense playing well but you just can't give credit can you?

No kidding. I am sick to death of listening to the BS from fans. They're entitled to their opinion, but give credit when it is due. Some of these fans just can't let a positive be a positive. They have to give a jab somehow. I am happy the offense is clicking, happy Carp is showing up, and glad we are on the plus side of the W/L column.

I agree. We are the 2nd ranked offense in the league and ranked 6th in points scored tied with Indy. I understand when people look to cast blame but then to turn around and give no credit when it is deserved is wrong.

That is amazing, especially considering we aren't even leading the league in offense.

His playcalling still hasn't been very good imo...this is just a very, very talented offense.

As I've pretty much been saying all along, it only takes a clown to mess up an offense stacked with such talent.

I agree. What makes this offense so potent is you can't just target one person to shut the offense down. Witten and Austin are incredibly dangerous in the passing game, and Felix is a threat to break it any time in the running and passing game. Then Choice and Barber are steady. Crayton will make a play every now and then, and Bennett is just waiting to break out.

Your clearly entitled to your opinion but these other teams who are ranked high and are tops in points are very very talented as well. Sorry if you don't like all the calls but that does not change the fact that Garrett's offensive unit is playing very good ball and he is dailing up a lot of good plays and getting a lot of people involved.

Dallas has talent so do these other top teams. indy has talent, Pats have talent yet we are putting up as much if not more than they are. It is cop out to sit there and say well it is just the players for Dallas but the other teams OC are just so great. What a fricken joke, you don't even have the balls to give credit when it is rightly deserved.

That is the whole irony. Yards is the indicator by which they are measuring this offense, besides the fact we played scrub teams. The number fails to take into account we were past the middle of the league in red-zone offense. When the field gets shorter, then one really begins to see the limitations of Red's 'brilliant' play-calling. Against Atlanta, we were 1-3 and the one TD we scored, it was because Tony Romo saved the play with his miraculous footwork. Last week, on 3rd and long, the offense in the red-zone was aided by 2 PI calls. With a running game that has now taken on the mold of Hudson Houck, it is pretty irritating that the Cowboys aren't that high up in the red-zone.Miles Austin is playing lights out right now and is making big plays. Once teams start taking out the big-play, we'll see how Garrett adjusts. As I said, he has a tendency to start quick and finish slow. The same thing happened in 2007 and 2008 when teams just started shifting the coverage over to TO and sending the pressure. He hasn't earned a mantle of greatness yet. He still needs to make up for the epic fail of last year and the beginning of this year. It was only Superman in the form of Miles Austin that started saving this offense. Otherwise, Garrett was getting blasted.

These other teams are playing weak teams as well and it is not just the yardage we are putting up the points. You are so dead aginst Garrett you can't admit you are wrong dead wrong. Pathetic

Are these teams middle of the pack on red-zone offense? No, they aren't.

Yes some of them are including the Giants. Dallas has had some problems and after the bye have been producing pretty darn well in the red zone fact is you will not give Garrett credit and will cop out with it is the players non sense. Well then I guess the Pats it is just the players same with Indy as well. Yet when the players fail to execute you come on with it is Garrett. Love how you want it both ways, if it is good it the player bad well that is Jason fault you are a joke

That is not the question I asked. The Cowboys are number 2 in yards, but where are they in red-zone offense?

I just think someone who calls delayed handoffs from their won 2 yard line, and consistently goes shotgun at the other team's 2 yard line, doesn't really know what they are doing.

Garrett's done a good job installing his system, but his playcalling just isn't good.

Exactly... He seems to be more a theorist, when given time can install a system. He seems to be pretty bad on the fly. His play-calling, especially as the year goes on and teams adjust, becomes very questionable.

I don't know where they rank I know what they are. Dallas is 10 out of 18 in the redzone we started off very well 5 out of 6 in the redzone and then ran into some problems with the staff using the bye week to correct those problems since the the bye Dallas is 3 for 3 in the redzone. And your whole point of this is?
