'I'm a tight end, man'
G.J. McCARTHY / DMN
That was Jason Witten's answer when asked whether he considered going down after his helmet popped off on that 53-yard catch-and-run.
"I'm a tight end, man," Witten said. "I can't go down."
Witten, who had three catches for 77 yards in the win, was actually a bit perturbed that he didn't score on the play. LB Chris Gocong kept Witten from his second spectacular TD of the night.
I mentioned to Witten that his helmetless dash ranked right up there with Jay Novacek's hurdle as the best highlights for Cowboys tight ends. He made a good case why his play should be considered the best.
"Mine hurt a lot worse," said Witten, whose nose was bloodied on the play.

Where does Witten rank among Jerry era Cowboys?
Ol' Jerry got giddy and gave us this gem: "I would truly rate Jason Witten in my top five of the greater players I have been around in my 19 years in the game."
Whoa, Cowboy. I believe Witten is the best all-around TE in the game -- none of the other premier receivers at the position are close to his caliber of blocker -- but there have been a whole bunch of great players during Jerry's time with the Cowboys.
Top five? The Triplets (Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin, in that order), Larry Allen and Deion Sanders. Darren Woodson is next on the list and bumps Deion if you want to consider Cowboy longevity. Charles Haley has to be pretty high. T.O., Tony Romo, DeMarcus Ware and Witten have some work to do to crack that exclusive list.

Fine job by the O-line
Tony Romo is a smart, rich quarterback. He's wise enough to give the big boys up front some love after a convincing win.
"That might have been their best game of the year," Romo said of the offensive line. "We were able to run the ball consistently, and we were able to protect consistently against some exotic looks."
Of course, Romo isn't just blowing smoke. Julius Jones and Marion Barber combined for 113 yards on 29 carries. An average of 3.9 yards per carry isn't great, but it was enough to keep the chains moving. And the Eagles, which entered the night ranked third in the NFL with 24 sacks, got none against the Cowboys. Not even a QB hurry.
"Domination! Whoo!" C Andre Gurode hollered to LT Flozell Adams in the locker room. "Consistency, baby!"
Added Jerry: "There's no question we're seeing the benefits of a real fine offensive line. That's big, because we haven't had that in several years. It just hasn't been all together and we worked real hard in the offseason to get this offensive line in shape."
