I'm sure Jason Garrett has considered this question over the last couple of days.

An panel of talent evaluators (two pro scouts, a personnel director, a defensive coordinator and a defensive backs coach) put together by ESPN.com anointed Denver's Cutler the league's most promising young quarterback. That was in Dec. 2007, when the Cowboys were 12-1 and Romo was the NFC's most valuable player.

Romo wasn't as good this season, and Cutler took a significant step forward, passing for 4,526 yards and 25 touchdowns. The primary area that needs improvement is the same for both quarterbacks: cut down turnovers. They're both good athletes who can make plays when improvising.

The biggest difference between the quarterbacks is arm strength. Romo's arm is pretty strong; Cutler's is Elwayesque.

I like Romo. With the injuries and OC handicap this year he was not at his best.

they both are good, you can't really go bad with either.

Cutler's physical tools are better, but Romo has him with intangibles. I saw Cutler get rattled a ton this season, and defenses weren't even pressuring him. So I'd still take Romo, even with the understanding that Cutler has the higher ceiling of the two.

It's pretty close... But even though I was a big Cutler fan when he came out of Vanderbilt, I think I'd take Tony. He has that ability to see the whole field and make the big play.

Not trying to start another one of *those* threads, but I think Tony would look much better if he didn't have to worry about satisfying so many players and could simply drop back and find the open man.

All Tony has to do is cut down on the turnovers. That's it.

Romo anyday.

Put Cutler under the microscope and pressure that Romo faces everday, and I bet he doesnt put up the numbers he did this year

Romo has a hotter GF........actually I've never seen Cutlers GF, so I'm just making an assumption.

Cutler doesn't have close the weapons Romo has at his disposal, there are quite a few QB's in this league that could come in here and prosper, assuming our line doesn't get them killed.

I'd take either one, we have Romo, so I'll stick with Romo. But if we had neither and both were FA's, I'd take Cutler since he's younger, higher ceiling, and has a stronger arm.

Their turnover difference isn't ask large as you might think though.

Imagine the numbers Romo would put up if he ever attempted 616 passes and was sacked only 11 times in a season, like Cutler was this season.

If he threw only 25 TDs, with 18 interceptions, like Cutler did, that would be disappointing.

Very true.

And I know you're a numbers guy, but the numbers never tell the whole story.

Romo would put up better numbers if he had an oline block as well as Den did for Cutler.

In Cutlers defense they were down to basically me at RB. He was asked to drop back and throw it 45 times a game.... Wait, that sounds like what we were doing here as well.

The real question is whether you would take the combo of Cutler and Marshall or Romo and T.O.?

Why would Romo play for Denver?
Why would you compare numbers unless they are in the same situation? Imagine Cutler's numbers if he played with the Cowboys and only had 16 sacks.
