DMN Blog: WR Roy Williams says that sometimes you have to 'dial up 9-11'

If our line continues with its poor pass protection I dont see him getting 6 - 8 catches a game. Hes not as quick out of the break as the other guys and Tony has had less time this year than the past three to scan the field.

If they decide to finally start having him run the freakin slant route that made Irvin so deadly, maybe he'll start catching 5-6 passes a game. That route is there all day when teams blitz, and it is a quick read on top of that. Yet, I've only seen Williams run maybe 1-2 slants this year.

That is a good observation. We dont seem to run many slants with Roy. Ive seen us throw it a few times to Crayton but rarely to Roy. One would think with his size we could capitalize on that route more.

Agreed. Part of that is the whole Tony the pocket passer(Tom Brady) experiment. Defenses ALWAYS know where to find him, unlike when Romo was more mobile.

If he gets back to rolling out and running when its there then we will convert more 3rd downs and Roy WILL get those 6-8.

I don't see how you can name a tandem between you and Romo and oyu're not even doing anything. Right now you're a JAG that cost us a 1st round pick.

Roy Williams needs to stop taking the bait from the media. When he tells the media that his current situation is "frustrating", he is just giving them exactly what they want, something negative to focus on in their columns.

However, I think there is a lot of pressure on Roy Williams, whether by the fans, the media and/or the Coaching Staff after the game Miles Austin had against the Chiefs and personally, I don't know if he is handling it well.

Saying now he had have a 251 yards game, saying the situation is frustrating and even though I didn't think it was a sleight at Miles Austin, basically saying Miles Austin was suppose to put up great numbers against the Chiefs.

either way he gets criticized, so it's better to be honest. He's not getting good numbers yet and has missed some chances (both he and Tony), so he's frustrated. Who cares how the media spins it?

Sunday he has 8 receptions for 107 yards and a TD.

Not a guess. I'm from the future.

Future man:

1. What will Wade have for breakfast on Sunday?
2. Will pork futures be solid on Wednesday?
3. Will Roy be pouting Monday?
4. What will Jerra think of Wade on Monday?
5. Will that gal report me to the authorities on Saturday?

Didn't run many slants with the other guy on key downs either. I still to this day don't understand how a slant is not run on a say 3rd and 7? 3rd and 6?

Quick 3 step drop and BAM! Balls out .... Kill the blitz almost everytime.

Instead, they throw a pass into the flat and make the RB actually try and earn the 8 yrds or so for the first.
BRING BACK THE SLANT!!!!:)

I didn't have Internet yesterday. I like the 9-11 thing. Pretty clever.
