Yeah it seems they really didn't strip Garrett of OC duties because Callhan and Linehan get stuck with his bad decisions.

"The team was not really too curious about Moore."

This shows that JG and Jones, and other coaches cant evaluate worth a crap in practice.

I do think linehan wanted to play Moore and would have way back when over weeden, if it had been up to him.
He brought moore here, and I saw him in the jets game congratulate Moore on the TD, and was smiling much
like he would if Moore were his kid.

The next 2 games will tell if Moore might have won some of the games the other qb's lost,
if so then the answer has been on bench all along.
If we were just 6-8 right now , we would be in it, and that is just 2 wins somewhere !!!!!!!!!

-------------
About Payton, I think we can dream about it, Payton has worked for Jerry before,
and jerry likes guys who are proven, and sean has won a SB, so those things matter
to Jerry.
He has the money to pay JG off or make him asst GM or something.
It would be fun if that happened, but still think maybe odds are against it.
-----------
Question: Jason Garrett has never shown he can win the coaching battle.

Glad to see someone point this out and say it publicly!
That is one clear reason to get another HC.

I have a comment regarding Moore and it being forced. I was listening to Bill Simmons podcast the other day and Cousin Sal was on. Jimmy Kimmel, Sal and 2 other from their crew were invited into Jerrys suite. He says Jerry came down before the game and announced that they were going to see a new player at a very important position. They also got invited to go up to the private lair about the suite and it seemed the move was premade as soon as anything with Cassell happened. Just news I found interesting since Jerry already was talking before the game.

I hope that is true because it is another indication Jerrah is getting fed up w Garrett.

If this is true, why didnt they put moore in after the int, why wait till the sack??

If they want to lose games for the higher draft spot why not keep playing cassel ??

They now say they dont care how good moore is they are going to get another bkup.

So it seems insane what they do and say.

I also noticed jimmy got stephens seat in the suite. right next to jerry, so that sort of says jerry is still the main one in charge.

Funny thing is when Payton was here fans wanted him gone

I posted that a while back and got called all kinds of stupid. It as demanded that I put up proof in the form of quotes from 2008 or whenever it was. The haters don't remember doing the same thing to Payton. They are never wrong, either. Just ask them!

Which is the crux of the real issue. Coaches are villainized here for the sins of the owner. Garrett's the current villain. As Wade was before him. His eventual replacement will be the next. Round and round we go.

So the people who were telling you then that Payton can't coach are now saying the same thing about Garrett.

It's your choice whether that's worth your time. It's not worth mine.

Well, it's apparent that it is worth your time otherwise you would not follow the Cowboys. lol

If there is one thing we have learned over the past 20 years, it is the difficulty of building a team capable of making the playoffs year in and year out. A handful of bad decisions can short circuit a team's competitiveness. It isn't that Jerry never makes good decisions. It is that he doesn't make enough of them.

Jerry's downfall is that he is not consistent. He is always chasing the next trend instead of establishing the trend. Jimmy established the trend, which is why he won consistently after he built the roster he wanted. To win in the NFL on a consistent basis you need to be the leader, not the follower. Jerry is a follower as a GM, and a Leader as a business man. Since Jimmy left, what have we had a Head Coach...Switzer (care taker), Gailey (Bus Driver), Campo (Family debt),Parcells (re-establish credibility), Wade (Recycled head coach), and Garrett (Family Nepotism). Not one coach after Jimmy was a trend setter, they were all followers. That is why we win one year, then are .500 or worse the next four. Until Jerry the GM hires a young, bright coach with a set of iron balls, we will continue to be what we are, good enough to compete but not good enough to be a consistent playoff and Super Bowl contender.

Said it before, and will say it again, if we got Payton we are at least in the NFC CG next season with good health. Teams generally over achieve in there first season for new coaches, and our offense would be dynamic!

What's that worth to all of you and to Jerry?

Or, he could head to NY and set records with Eli and OBJ.........:(

I always felt Payton was a Bill Parcells disciple and not a Cowboy by origin.

Going to NY makes more sence to me and taking Eli under his wing..

not Romo.

Now if you told him he can decide whom to draft and give him his head about it..

plus a big fat raise..

sure.

Not sure what you do with Garrett.

Not sure Payton would want him around considering Garrett's ties to the Jones Family.

So not sure how you deal with that. Some have said make him a GM but I think Stephen would have to be very comfortable with that before that could happen.

But the Jones family like to keep things close and that could happen.

I fully expect Romo to have a coaching future with us once he retires..too.

What's your point? Nothing can be done about Jerry. But Garrett can still do a way better job than he is. The talent isn't below average on this roster, the coaching is. Besides, I don't see many here saying any thing positive about Jerry.

If a car has a blown motor, you can make repairs to every other area of the car and at the end of the day the car will still have a blown motor.

My point is obvious. I simply will not waste my time blaming coaches set up to fail by the lunatic that has destroyed this team. Will. Not. Do. It.

Special contributor Bob Sturm answered questions in a chat. Here are some highlights.

Question: From what you know of Jason Garrett, was the move to use Kellen Moore forced on him? A week before in a blowout, the guy who never played wasn't an option. Now, he's used with the season on the line.

Bob Sturm: Honestly, the entire Kellen Moore run is based on the dissatisfaction of Matt Cassel more than it is about Moore. The team was not really too curious about Moore. They were just overall disgusted with the level of their QB play for the 2nd time this season. Weeden and Cassel has taught them that they have simply underprepared for the event of needing to have someone not named Romo ready.

that right there is disgusting to me. It reeks of arrogance.

Unless there was deep seeded statement by Jerry, that half-assed character is sufficient, in the final analysis...then by all means, dump Jason Garrett and pay the state taxes upon Sean Payton. Drew Brees has kept the Saints productive...not character in the coaching staff.

LOL I can't recall anyone wanting him gone. In fact, more people wanted Parcells gone more than Peyton.

I for one ALWAYS wanted him to stay put and be our head coach then.

Cassell was a wasted trade from the get go. I thought he would be a slight improvement from Weeden but I was wrong about that. We should have had Moore start in place of Weeden, not Cassell. They really messed up the backup QB position and should not have been a problem if they only gotten a reliable backup QB from the get go.
