The team can create plenty of cap room this off-season to do whatever they feel is necessary.

Funny, that's exactly what Jones said last year and look what happened. Also, your picks of who turned out good/bad in the drafts is way off on many players.

when anyone with a brain is saying one thing and a few gomers on a internet forum are saying something else, who do you believe?

If you grasped the nuance a little better, you'd get that it isn't about agreeing on a price--its about those FAs agreeing to sign cheap, which probably won't happen. Of course, the author of the article could have been a little more clear about what he meant.

I grasp the nuance, I'm mocking stupid, lazy writing from someone I'm paying to do so by my subscription fees.

Which makes the myth Garrett is some wunderkind in the warroom that much funnier.

Granted what we see on tv does not show us what is really going on in the warrooom, but when I see JG in the warroom, I see a kid that is being allowed to sit at the adult table at Thanksgiving.

The ones who can count. Who in this thread are NOT the ones that think Will Allen is Brodney Pool.

The loan is interest free. Given that would you rather have your money now or later?

The "loans will come due" is the biggest myth in fan/media land about the salary cap.

They come due for some players when they are cut, but new loans replace the old ones every year.

You couldn't do it in real life because real loans have interest that would add up, but in the salary cap world, there is no interest.

Mo should be traded but that's not what we do. We could get a second rounder for him I think. What's the point of him being here?

You trade away a 1st round pick you spent two picks on just two years later for a 2nd round pick?

Yikes I'm glad you are not our GM.

Plus the cap keeps going up and the already locked in leagues revenues are set to climb even higher with the new TV deals.

There is certainly lost opportunity cost associated with constantly being up against the cap.

We had cap room last year. We used more than $10.6 million of it to franchise Spencer, then we got nothing out of him. You could get a lot of free agents for $10.6 million in cap room.

Not to mention that we didn't even use all of our cap room.

In the salary cap world, you GAIN interest on your "loans" when the cap goes up. Given that you can carry over any unused cap room, there is NO reason not to push every cap charge as far into the future as possible.

Garrett got to talk to Jerry's daughter while Jerry and Stephen makes the big boy decisions.

It was a mistake to trade up for Mo. Sometimes you have to cut your loses. Nobody would be foolish enough to give a second for MO now, but it would help by getting something back. He certainly hasn't been worth the investment.

Mo sucks. I don't give a damn what you think. If love to spend a second on a d lineman.

Yes, that can happen; however, in situations like last year with Spencer and Ratliff, they were not going to sign other DL even if they had plenty of cap space. They made a mistake committing to Spencer early missed lower cost free agents Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril; however, that was not because of the cap.

It's pointless to even ponder any pipe dreams involving Jerry making some miraculous transformation as GM that will put this team into contention anytime soon. The pooch has already been screwed for thee next few years and the best path forward is to draft well and dont make any more poor cap decisions, after a few more crap seasons things might turn around.

YEUP!=:rolleyes:
