Holy crap it is way too early. I've read about Romo throwing more INTs too, are we worried there?

Agreed. Haven't even practiced against the Raiders or Rams; no blue and white scrimmage yet, and no preseason games till mid-August. Time to chill.

It's really nice to see Patmon playing well. He was really good during preseason last year, and halfway decent during the regular season. If he could prove to be a reliable option at nickelback (Mo will most likely still be our starter but... yea), that would give us some options with Byron Jones playing all over the place.

Very much agree. I think Patmon stepping up, coupled with a solid contribution from Claiborne, would allow the Cowboys to utilize the position flexibility that both Corey White and Byron Jones bring to the table.

In turn, that would allow the Cowboys to conceivably 'go light' at the safety position, possibly keeping only three - Church, Wilcox, and Heath - and then going 'long' at cornerback, keeping six - Scandrick, Carr, Claiborne, Patmon, Jones, White.

He lost me here. How exactly does a 6 foot 7 back up TE hide in the back ground?

From everything I've seen of him, the guy plays with zero confidence or swagger. Entering his 3rd year in the league, he still looks like a rookie. A timid deer unsure of himself. No 'dog' in him at all. A 'finesse' TE.

If I never see this team use another 2nd round pick while Jason Witten is here, it will be too soon!

Dallas Cowboys defensive back Tyler Patmon catches a pass during a drill at training camp on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015, in Oxnard, Calif. (Smiley N. Pool/The Dallas Morning News)

The Cowboys are entering their second week and everyone seems to be bullish about their prospects. But how about their players? Whose stock is rising? Whose is falling? We examine.
Stock Rising

Tyler Patmon, CB: Patmon’s name is now known across the nation after he took on Dez Bryant in a fight during practice Sunday. The two went at it for a while before things settled down. But the seeds for the altercation were sown when Patmon, a feisty second-year player, was given first-team snaps. In practice, Patmon has rarely ceded an inch and has been particularly good in one-on-one drills, where he has managed to make a few pass breakups. He is showing something, and the Cowboys have to like it.

Damien Wilson, LB: The Cowboys seem to feel pretty good about Damien Wilson, their rookie fourth-round pick. With Sean Lee not participating in team drills as he continues his recovery from reconstructive knee surgery, Wilson has benefited with additional reps. An active linebacker, he has shown flashes in practice and seems capable of making an impact just like second-year player Anthony Hitchens as a rookie. Hitchens, it should be noted, was a fourth-round choice, too.

Lance Dunbar, RB: Dunbar became a forgotten man last season, when DeMarco Murray was piling up yards on the way to becoming the NFL’s rushing champion. But the fourth-year veteran could reemerge this season. With Murray gone, the Cowboys should feature Dunbar more regularly in the passing game, as they have always intended. In Sunday’s practice, he showed what he could do on a nicely designed screen pass, where he ran free in open space for a big gain.

Moore: Are Cowboys setting dangerous precedent, or simply doing what's right for this year's team?
  • Cowboys DE Jeremy Mincey on fight: 'Dez can be a hothead sometimes, but that's good'
  • Bob Sturm's Issues In Oxnard: What Cowboys must address at linebacker
  • Jerry Jones: Dez Bryant, Tyler Patmon fight didn't surprise me; 'That's good stuff'
  • Cowboys WR Dez Bryant throws several punches at CB Tyler Patmon in training camp fight that wouldn't end

Good to see Patmon playing well, Dallas needs all the good DB's they can get and Patmon could be a rising Star wearing the Star .

I think our cornerbacks of the future (next year) will be Scandrick, Jones, and Patmon.

Writing's on the wall for Carr and Claiborne...but having all five at reasonable costs would not exactly be a bad thing if Carr re-works his deal and Claiborne shows enough to stick around as a depth guy.

Yeah but when QBs throw picks, it usually means a big fat L. I hate big fat Ls.....If you get too many big fat Ls, you don't make it to January. And I love January. Beginning of the new year, ice fishing, fireplace cranking and hot cocoa.....Lets make it to January!!

unless of course you're Russel Wilson in the NFC Championship game, then you can throw as many as you want. No problem,
