I think Collins likes the competition as does Leary. This position battle will be one of the best in training camp!

Plus, he avoids all the pressure of being a first round pick and being forced to start for a crappy team. He will still get paid in 3 years and there is also a very good chance he plays this year. He will be a big part of the OL and he will get his chance sooner or later. He just needs to be ready in case it's sooner rather than later.

The pass rush didn't cost us a chance at a title last season. The LACK of a pass rush did hurt us badly, but we were getting gashed up the middle by both Detroit & Green Bay. Why haven't we drafted a DT in the first three rounds of the draft for over a decade? (Crawford was a DE when drafted). We've done a great job of shoring up the interior of the O-line, but until we have at least 2-3 big, powerful athletes stuffing the run & collapsing the pocket from the inside, this team will be hard pressed to win a title THIS season, as well.

you sound logical but the best defensive coach in the league doesn't agree

I wonder if he regrets coming to Dallas.

Any other team he is most likely a day 1 starter.

Leary walks next season, and Collins steps right into that spot. Saving Dallas a big contract on a player with a degenerative knee condition and buying us time to extend Frederick on our cap.

The writing was on that wall the day Collins signed.

Any turnover in a game is hurtful, but there is no question our pass rush was what let us down the most. You have the best QB in the league playing on one leg with mobility, and we still have people comparing a fumble early in the first to a weak pass rush in all 4 quarters? We should have had countless pressures and sacks on Rodgers in that game but lacked the talent.

Ultimately this will be the best place for him. Maybe not day 1, but ultimately this is where he will want to be and being part of something with these linemen will be very marketable for them.

Leary is restricted though so there is still hope.

Im not worried about the knee at this point.. If anything we can just use it as an excuse to give us leverage.

I just hope we don't make the mistake of not playing or letting Leary walk just because of Collins.

Leary is a road grader and a heck of a player.

I think Leary will stay this year, beyond that it will come down to how guys like Green and Collins develops.

I did too.

The lack of any news in regards to the thanksgiving jerseys actually irritates me. Are they officially done for good because of this whole "wear only one helmet" nonsense?

Yep. Thank God.

The NFL needs to stop with the throwbacks. That was cool for a couple of years, but it looks ridiculous now. Those brown and yellow Broncos pukes, and whatever that is the Eagles wear.....yuck.

Uniforms make the NFL great. You see the Steelers uniforms, and you know EXACTLY what who they are, what they've done, what their history is, and why you hate them. It's not just a uniform, it's a history in cloth.

What in the world is Tampa thinking? Those uniforms are hideous. And Cleveland? Sure, they're uniforms were boring, but they were steeped in tradition. I give a pass to Seattle and Tampa because they were so bad for so long, but what is Tampa doing now? Those are hideous, especially when the last ones were cool and they won a Super Bowl in them.

Other leagues have ruined themselves this way. The NFL should be careful.

I think Leary is a very good player
But the reality of having a top LT, Center, and an all pro guard means you have a hard time having the other two guys under second contracts
I'm hoping we can keep Leary around but unless his knees scare teams off like it did in the draft, he will get more offered than we can pay I think. Maybe not next year because he is a RFA but the following year for sure
That's what's so bad with green
He just lost a camp that is so important in his development so he can be ready to step in at rt in the future
Bringing young guys along to replace vets is a huge part of managing the cap

You can't pay everyone. You let Leary walk and insert Collins (assuming the coaching staff sees enough in him). Someone pays Leary big money and you've got comp picks coming back to you without taking a step back on your top unit.

Oh look. A poster with business acumen and football knowledge! Rare around here!
