Kevin Murray, DeMarco’s father, just talked to his son on the phone a little before 10 a.m. CT. Kevin Murray told The Dallas Morning News that though DeMarco feels “hurt” right now that the Cowboys haven’t made a stronger offer to keep him, his son hasn’t made up his mind yet on where he will play next season.

“My impression from talking to him this morning is that he loves his coach, he loves his teammates and the Dallas fans,” Kevin Murray said, “but he’s just hurt that something hasn’t happened to lure him not to take the trip right now.”

“Everybody keeps saying he called Chip Kelly. He was returning Chip Kelly’s call,” Kevin Murray said.

Kevin Murray said his son is still wrestling with the decision on where to play next season and “absolutely” he hasn’t closed the door on the Cowboys. Kevin Murray said his son plans to give the Cowboys another chance to make another offer before he makes a final decision.

“He loves the Cowboys and he wishes them well,” Kevin Murray said. “But I don’t feel like his mind is made up. He hasn’t indicated that to me in no kind of way.”

The Cowboys are playing him like a Stradivarius or a Marlin on a 80 lb line. ;)

Seems to me that Murray is still hoping to get a deal with Dallas. Clearly if Philly blows him away with some big offer he would likely take it but based on what his dad is saying whatever offer is made Murray plans on contacting the Cowboys with the offer

He seems like a super nice man but do not understanding how on one hand it's a business decision and then on the other there's hurt feelings. Maybe JJ's feelings are hurt too that a hometown discount hasn't been offered by Murray

Bingo!

I would call a hometown discount being a little less than what is being offered on the outside. Evidently Oakland has offered the most at least according to reports (not sure how accurate). It is one thing giving the so called hometown discount and another cutting your own throat.

That's interesting if he was returning Philly's call and didn't initiate it himself.
Bad reporting if that's so.

I agree 100% that signing up to play for the Eagles is cutting your own throat!

Who knows Eagles could be just playing Murray to see if JJ bites.

Not what I mean, If others are offering a lot more and Cowboys are not budging he should not be giving out discounts, on the other end if Cowboys try to work with him and are slightly less then yes I can see Murray signing with Dallas. Cowboys are the ones saying test the market and get back to us.

he is RB who didn't have many options. The Eagles has cap space and needed RB. I am thankful for the year he gave Dallas - its probably his best year. Now the Eagles inherit his work-load and high cap dollars. Dallas wins this by going into the draft and getting the next RB.

It sounds like Murray doesn't really want to go to the Eagles. It sounds like he was trying to use the threat of him going to a division rival to force the Cowboys to up their offer. So far, The Cowboys have been willing to call his bluff.

It's not called the black hole for nothing. It's where athletes go to toss what remains of their careers.
