After reading the whole article, it sounds like a man coming into his own..

WG - I sincerely hope he is off and running. His story is so sad, yet so remarkable and the amazing thing is it's not entirely written yet. I would like to see Dez find the woman of his dreams and get married and have a child - I think he would be a great dad, never letting what happened to him happen to his children. All that being said--

I would also not be entirely honest if I said I wasn't nervous about his future.

Fairly certain he already has 2, if not definitely one child already.

Dez has a long time girlfriend and three children. Two boys and newborn daughter. His oldest son he has with another woman from when he was in college. The other two are by his current girlfriend.

Wow - I honestly did not know that (and just when I thought I knew everything LOL). I guess I better update my stance on him and say I bet he IS a good dad and trying to make the best of a tough family situation.

Ya know.. People do grow up and let the BS go sometimes. Regardless of your stance on the Wells-RocNation-West-Cowboys support system, folks on here act like they've never been young and dumb...or that they don't have kids. At some point, you gotta let the kids go. That's just how I see it.

"Yeah I was a young dumb 21 year old but I wasn't an NFL star who had millions at stake. I would have been different if I had all those things."

I would have been different too. I would have been FAR WORSE lol.

Ha! I was a relatively responsible 21 yr old, but I was also broke. lol

With my parents, the odds were against me doing anything, but what I've done.

Dez needed the structure at one time, so I don't begrudge the support system the Cowboys built for him.

I was exceedingly responsible in all things except money. I wouldn't say I was broke as I could earn, but I spent as well.

That said it isn't like being an NFL player or earning more would have improved me. the argument of "you have all this ahead of you and still manage to ruin it" is silly to me.

And I think the support system is great. What employers take that much effort to invest in someone? I think it paid dividends for both sides. But at some point, you have to take the training wheels off.

Yep. We all have had or will have the "sink or swim" time in our lives. It is just part of life.
