News: DMN: George: Sink or swim time for WR Dez Bryant as Cowboys end restrictive 'Dez Rules'

Wait for the Roc Nation conspiracy theoriest.

Not if they read the article... but then again.. *shrug*

I read the article and paragraphs like this worry me and will continue to until a long term deal is reached.

"Termination and cease-and-desist letters were delivered to multiple parties, including Wells, and two lawsuits have been filed."

People need to get it out of their heads it's personal against RN, they may be safe as houses, but for the moment I'll be apprehensive, thanks.

I think Wells coming out to the press and confirming his rehab structure last spring as well as going to the press about Dez having 10 people over last December were the last straws

Your welcome? Lol

This legal wrangling to untangle all the previous business arrangements is not worth your apprehension, but if you must, carry on.

Is it not? Close to the case are you?

Nope. Not to me. None of the stuff mentioned in the article has anything to do with the Cowboys, other than the change in agents. And the Cowboys are working with Tom Condon.

I'm about as close to the situation as you are. I'm just not as concerned about it. It's not my contract. It's not my money. And generally speaking as long as Dez shows up for training camp in shape and ready to go, then it won't affect the Cowboys.

But my question to you is what is your apprehension? What about his personal business dealings makes you nervous from a fan perspective?

Since he signed with the Nation it's been all cease and desists, law suits, mentor firing, avoiding work outs, tweets about loyalty. The Cowboys front office always had the reputation of paying people and that seems to have changed very recently, but I'm reluctant to say they are offering Dez a bad deal as you can't point to a history of it, my concern is that people are in his ear telling him he can get something unreasonable and him buying in. 13 as a place holder is hardly a slap in the face and some agents will always make me nervous, see Rosenhaus, Drew. If a deal gets done I'll be happy, but as of right now I would class my status as concerned.

Honestly, I just think all of that is timing and coincidence. We don't know the particulars of the numbers he's been offered or even what he wants. One tweet made months ago when everything that's been said by him and the team has been complimentary as far as negotiations shouldn't be held against him. Missing voluntary workouts while he's unsigned is just part of the business. He's not going to sign a waiver and potentially cost himself millions of dollars by getting hurt. I wouldn't do it either.

As far as his personal business and change of agents. What I take away from it all is that he probably looked at how many fingers were in the cookie jar ready to get some, and decided to make a change in his business affairs. Roc Nation sounds like a one-stop shop instead of the myriad of shops that he had. I've seen nothing of Roc Nation being a bad influence on a star player. I mean, you got Skylar Diggins, a female basketball player, I've never even seen play get mega sponsoring deals.

As for the lawsuits are simply about resolving the remaining contractual obligations he had. The ThrowUpTheX dude will get a buyout. David Wells will get a buyout. All other associates will settle and get buyouts and then Roc Nation will then manage his affairs.

If it sounds like I'm poo-poo'ing all of the stuff going on, it's because I am. It wouldn't have mattered who the new agent would've been, folks would've gotten upset, because it upsets the Cowboy fan apple cart. Roc Nation Sports having a celebrity (who happens to be a Cowboys fan, btw) as a the head boss seems to put the cherry on top.

But we'll see how it plays out...

Nothing to do with my point and putting words in my mouth.

While I was quoting you, that was more of a generalization of other posts on this topic, not necessarily something you've said.

Poo pooing everything that's going on is is the ostrich approach, it's a bold move cotton lets see how it pays off.

Dez getting his ducks in a row may be a good thing, or he may just be letting him self get lead around by the nose. He is by far their biggest client, the rest seem fairly mediocre. The company is also new, this is what leads to suspicion. If they had a track record of smooth negotiations, nobody would care. It's not a conspiracy.

Nah, my head isn't in the sand. I promise you that. I keep track of everything going on. I just wait and see til something actually happens before I make a judgment on it. So far, it's just been a bunch of paperwork flying around.

Say what???? Have you looked at their talent roster? Dez is hardly their biggest client. Suh, Robinson Cano, Kevin Durant, Skylar Diggins are ALL big time clients in their respective fields.

I've read nothing about contracted negotiations, but I get your viewpoint.

Apart from Durant, Dez is their biggest client, Suh maybe immense as a talent, but outside of his outrageous contract, I'm not sure how marketable he is unless they are bringing out custom cleats called stompies, even the market he's moved to is not as big. I don't know who Cano is and you are never gonna convince me WNBA is a huge get, she's not in a field she's standing on a square of turf.

Ok.

Either way... I respect your concerns. I was trying to understand your position and I do now, even if I don't agree.

The only really good news involving Dez right now would be the number of years, and money, the Cowboys have agreed to give him to keep him there. Anything else at this point is simply background noise in regards to Dez.
