Dez Bryant #88 of the Dallas Cowboys celebrates after scoring a touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on December 14, 2014 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

IRVING — While in London, Dez Bryant told Michael Irvin he was about to have a huge second-half to the season. Since delivering that statement, the Cowboys are 4-1, and Bryant has played a significant role.

Over the last five games, the Cowboys receiver has 29 receptions for 513 yards and seven touchdowns. No player has more receiving touchdowns during that span.

“We obviously are seeing the just outstanding contributions he’s making to our success,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Friday on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. “He’s not only making great plays, he’s making them at the absolute most indispensable time to make them, just right on time, and winning games with those plays.

“Now, that’s how you draw it up, and that’s how you take a great talent and make it do what everybody is supposed to be doing, and that is the team, trying for the championship.

“Yeah, I think we’re seeing more of that. I will say this, when he’s away from the ball, you’re seeing him run better routes, you’re seeing him do some better things. He had a little drop-off a couple games back, I’m talking about his blocking, I’m talking about his discipline on routes away from the ball.”

Jones then acknowledged that Bryant has refocused himself with the help of Cowboys receivers coach Derek Dooley. Jones said Bryant is doing a better job “understanding what veteran players do, that their part away from the ball is critical to the success around the ball.”

On Sunday, Bryant could see a lot of Colts cornerback Vontae Davis, one of the game’s best at his position. However, Davis is listed as questionable with a groin injury.

“He’s the ultimate competitor,” Davis said. “There’s not too many competitors around the league like Dez Bryant. He’s just one of those guys who hates losing, myself as well, so it should be fun.”

“He’s a nightmare,” Colts coach Chuck Pagano said of Bryant. “He’s one of the most competitive guys that we’ve seen. He’s a great talent. He’s a great player. He’s a combination of size, athleticism and speed. But his competitive nature and his drive and his passion for the game and for his team and for winning is second to none.

“The guy’s a monster. … It’s going to take all hands on deck to just try to contain him and make sure that he doesn’t wreck the game.”

Perfect road record and 3-4 home record 'confusing' to Cowboys' Travis Frederick: 'It feels the same'
  • What's interesting about the Dallas Cowboys listing DeMarco Murray as questionable vs. Colts
  • Cowboys' RB DeMarco Murray won't have to run gauntlet to prove he can play Sunday
  • Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray spotted at practice, but RG Zack Martin, RT Doug Free sit out

If I were Indy I'd sit Davis for playoff considerations.

A bad groin and chasing Dez is a recipe for disaster.

Plus it helps us if Davis sits :)

They can focus on Dez but then the Beas and Witten will tear up the middle of the field.

I am also calling Escobar as having another TD grab in this game.

I'm really starting to hate Pagano's goatee. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I'd rather have the guy play. An injured player on Dez.

They may find a way to control Dez but that still leaves a lingering problem to contend with Witten, Williams, Beasley, Harris, Murray and several others that are likely step up and be counted in this game. It won't exactly be a picnic for the Indy defense, unless I'm sorely missing my guess.

If Williams steps up, it'll be the first time in a couple of months.

The way to stop all these guys at once is to stop Romo. If they can generate consistent pressure, we'll have problems. If they can't, we'll kill them through the air and it doesn't matter which receiver does it.

Please be fully healthy, Zack.

He got back into the mix somewhat in the Eagles contest. I think Romo gave him a spanking for not hustling when he was picked off and made no attempt to rectify that shortcoming a while back. I'm hoping he steps up his game in what's left of this season. He'll either step it up or be counted among those liable for replacement in 2015.

Pressuring Romo is always a key element in controlling our offense's scoring, so that won't change vs. Indy. We have a pretty dangerous mix of WRs these days. Coupled with a good ground game, we can challenge virtually any team to outscore us on a good day. Romo is starting to get his legs back under him, so that helps, too. Having a bevy of capable WRs to go to is a blessing in itself, though. Beasley is really coming on in his consistency in moving the chains. I'll be expecting more of that from now on.

You know -- the one that pissed off Romo when he failed to go after the interceptor? Yeah, that one. Romo taught him a lesson that I'm hoping showed him something by not throwing to him for several games after that. Yeah, that one. If Terrance didn't learn something from that spanking, then there's no hope for him. I do believe he's got the talent to be much better than he's shown lately. That guy -- let's see if he shows up now when the opportunity to break out of his funk would benefit him the most. If he pouts and won't produce, then I'm all wet. That's the guy I'm talking about. Terrance Williams. I'll be the first one to admit I'm wrong if he punks out, too.

I'm beginning to like Beasley quite a bit. He's not fast but seems to find the open spot. He's also has a knack for moving the chains. He kind of reminds of a smaller version of Witten. Maybe a mini-Witten.

He looks fast to me.... and along with Witten we really give the opposing defenses trouble between the hashes. Coupled with the pressure DEZ puts on the outside, it really sets up for a dynamic passing offense.
