DMN: Jason Garrett explains why Cowboys’ Tony Romo will play vs. Washington

No it wouldn't. Sitting Romo in a playoff game to avoid injury makes no sense. Sitting him in a meaningless game to prepare him for the playoffs does.

By the way, Romo is ALREADY injured. No one is trying to avoid one we are trying to manage one

I totally agree with this post. The point of sitting Romo and Murray is to get their nagging injuries healthier not to just sit them for the sake of sitting them. They already have minor injuries. Let's manage them properly and not risk further injury and get ready for the playoffs.

Most of you don't get this because his is what is not being said by the Cowboys. Romo wants the opportunity, and JG wants Romo to have the opportunity, to play his way into the #1 position in the MVP discussion. Romo knows he is in his last couple years, and winning this award could go a long way to making his HOF bid and shedding a different light on his legacy. Don't scoff at this either, if you were in Romo's shoes you would feel the same way.

I really hope such a selfish, individual accomplishment doesn't factor in any way in the decision on what to do tomorrow.

Yea. Ummm no

Neither of the Meriweather sacks were. The first was a blown pickup, where the flipped the three tech but dropped the LB into coverage and blitzed the DB. The second was the obvious blown pickup by Murray late in the game.

We had people to handle each of those. Just didn't get it done.

You're right. Did you go back and look at the Sturm article that illustrates this? I did. Romo just messed it on one Meriweather sack. Only one of the 5 was because they were overloaded.

Guess you were right. Looked back at the old Sturm article on this. Only one was because we were overloaded.

I was remembering that article, yeah. Because it was pretty eye opening. At the time I hadnt realized what the we're doing at the snap with the three tech. It was a great breakdown, if anybody hasn't seen it.

Lmbo @ all of my fellow fans wringing their hands over the decision to forge ahead which I support 100%. Just to reiterate...

1. The pansy approach should not apply to a team that has not sniffed playoffs in several years.
2. Rest Demarco, McClain, and Free. The rest can go get us a win with the added incentive to be able to rest in the 2nd half if they take care of business early.
3. Jason has his head on straight.
4. Our Oline is ridiculous and will not allow anyone to get to Tony.. Just sit back and watch...
5. The #2 seed is still achievable and beating the Skins gives us a better chance vs losing to them. (Playing the skins bothers me much less than the 1st round)

And, if Romo, Dez, Murray or Witten gets injured tomorrow, he'll get crucified by Cowboys fans and the local media. And rightfully so.

Whatcha bet Tom Brady plays tomorrow? Andrew Luck?

Garrett never said how much they'd play...just that they would. And if be of them gets hurt, that's football.

I agree with all points except the one in reference to Demarco. Play him until he gets his 30 yards to top Emmitt's record. Then pull him out.

Historically teams that flip the switch to off near the end of the regular season hoping to flip it back on in playoffs spend the entire offseason wishing they never turned it off in the first place.

Momentum can't be manufactured on a whim. When you get it, do everything you can to keep it.

I'm fine with the regular starters playing....as long as they don't get injured. :)

Boom.... #nopansyzone...

I love Garrett's decision to go into the playoffs in rhythm regardless of whether we end up #2 or 3 seed. He's growing on me.

Well coach Garrett appears to have made the right call. I found it interesting that he cited the. 2007 season ending loss as his reasoning for not resting the starters.
We got out relatively injury free with the exception of hitch and I don't recall anyone suggesting we rest him.
I would have done it differently but then I watch from the couch.
In Garrett we trust. We are rolling into the playoffs.

that 2nd half almost backfired...the starters looked horrible. if we are going in with momentum it would be because of the defense and a back up offense player play.

Stop your griping! What more do you want?
pathetic

The starters played well today. They played so well that we are going into the playoffs with major SWAG. JG's strategy is paying off.
