It would have been country stupid to pay a back of his iffy caliber, injury history, and advancing age. I wouldn't have even paid him what Dallas offered him.

I just don't think he'll ever duplicate anything close to what he did last year, especially after that beating he took. And it drove me nuts to watch him carry that ball out from his body the way he did.

That said, he was pretty stinking good last year, no doubt. And his tough runs will be missed if nobody here can do some of that.

Unfortunately, I think he's about to get the full ire of Philly hate as their season spirals into oblivion and he's woefully short of the stats his contract suggests.

I don't know how the Eagles would plan to use him and if it will translate to success statistically.
You make an interesting point when you mention his contract suggesting a certain level of production.
Below are the top 10 paid running backs. I believe if Murray was in Dallas this season he would perform at a level that makes his salary not excessive.
I can see him keeping up with Lynch, Foster, Forte, Stewart. I even believe he will or would out produce some of these guys.
8million in todays NFL isn't excessive. I know the new trend is to devalue the RB position. But if you look around the league you will see so many players in this range that will never have the kind of impact Murray had and would have if he were our lead back this year.
