Here's my take on what players will make the eight-man practice squad:

* RB Keon Lattimore can play running back and fullback

*WR Danny Amendola needs a year of training to find a niche

*TE Drew Atchison has a great singing voice to keep veterans happy during down time

* DL Marcus Dixon has the tools and a year on the practice squad will help him learn how to use them

* OL Ryan Gibbons can play center, guard and tackle

* LB Darrell Robertson still coming back from a torn pec and might need to use this as a red-shirt year

* WR Mark Bradford has good size (6-2, 215 pounds) and intelligence, which is what you'd expect from somene who played at Stanford

* RB Alonzo Coleman gets a little more time to prove he's worthy of a roster spot

So who's on your practice squad?

Isn't this like Colemans 5th year on the practice squad?
You're thinking of Keylon Kincaid..

They released and brought him back so much that he declined to return after the last time.

Replace him with Rodney Hannah who was on the PS all of last season.

Exactly. Cowboys will be in the same spot as last yr re one Matt Moore. Bet they've learned their lesson; they keep him on the 53 and short the safety or CB unit and go with one backup QB.

This all presumes he continues to impress in camp and shows something at WR in PS games, which is tough with BJ and that 2nd OL team on the field with him.

You don't keep Amendola on the roster if he is not worth it. I rather have the extra DB than Amendola.

If you're going by SD game, I don't think it would be too difficult to put him on the PS. Not sure I saw enough to truly be impressed...

JJT is a horrible football analyst when it comes to things like this, so his opinion is fairly worthless.

About the only thing JJT is good for is hounding for quotes from all the players he is "tight" with.

Predicting the roster right now makes sense.

Predicting the practice squad right now does not. It's too early. Players still have practice to develop and show something and then there are preseason games. If any of these players play well enough to push for roster spots but ultimately fall short, then they will probably be picked up by other teams.

Are other teams going to sign Amendola to the active roster because he comes from the same school as Wes Welker? Because he had some face time on Hard Knocks? Because he can fumble punts? Because he looked good running around in shorts at Camp Marshmellow?

It's not like there are several expansion teams out there with roster spots galore. Most teams are going to be having trouble figuring out which guys to cut off their own rosters to get down to 53. If they are carrying that much dead weight in their training camps that there are dozens of useless players projected on the final 53 man NFL rosters then Dallas is in great position regardless.

Amendola's going to have to blow the coaches away in the preseason to have a shot at anyone's active roster. That's the way it works for undrafted free agents.

I just dont get why Amendola gets so much love? I know its just one preseason game he has played in, but I have not seen anything that would even make me think he has a chance.

IDK, just don't get it.

Ask Michael Irvin. He knows a thing or two about the WR position. He likes Amendola also.

the people that give him so much "love" are mostly the people who's seen him in TC which i doubt very many people here have so we really only have their words to go on.

Lucky for the Cowboys, they'll have way more than just the one preseason game against San Diego to go off of before they have to make a decision on Amendola. If that's all we have to go off of, then, no... he doesn't look that good. They have hours of practice as well as three more games to look at.

If they keep him, then he obviously showed enough in camp and preseason to make a roster spot for. If they don't... then he didn't.

Really, we can't have much of a clue at the moment.

Those with "insight" may project the practice squad but who really cares about that anyway!

I would like to see Stanback, Austin, Bennett and Amendola starting the game with Romo and then let Owens, Crayton,Hurd and Witten play with Johnson. It would give you a much better view of those three and a much better view of Johnson.
