SportsDay's Jon Machota answered questions in a chat Monday. Here are some highlights.

What do you think the organization ends up doing with Carr & Claiborne?

Machota: Claiborne's in a tough situation because the injury he's battling back from takes some time to get right. If he struggles again in 2015, he won't be with the Cowboys in 2016. I don't see the Cowboys s exercising his fifth-year option. With Carr, I think he plays for the Cowboys in 2015 but for a reduced price.

In your expert opinion, does Mo Claiborne have the skill set and desire to play in the NFL? Or is he another LSU Jamarcus Russell type?

Machota: It's tough to say because it seems like he's never healthy. He's battled so many injuries that I don't know that we've ever seen his best.

Not really telling us anything we didn't already know. You'd have to be foolish to think we'd exercise his option as of right now...

Yeah, that was very insightful.
Guy has a tough injury who knows if he'll be the same player. Claiborne might want big dollars might not....no one knows what the Cowboys will do...thanks for the "chat".

I think the Cowboys try to get the most out of him this year, and then they part ways in 2016. I do think we need to draft a CB fairly early on this year.

I could see Claiborne actually being an effective CB in 2015 only because it's his contract year. It amazes me how many players miraculously stay on the field and perform really well right before getting a new contract.

They pray he is healthy enough to contribute this year and say bye-bye next year unless he wants to play for the minimum to balance the scales.

Jerry's worst draft pick ever. But...It seems since then he turned over the reins.

So, thank you, Mo Claiborne.

Not really sure why so many hate SO much on this guy. He had a decent rookie season, his second year wasn't good but nobody on here had a good season that year and then the only play he got beat really bad on this year was by Quick and then he had the game clinching int anyways. Let it be mentioned that Quick had some big games before his own injury. IDK, I understand why people are frustrated with him not being able to stay healthy for a corner is a huge concern but I still don't think he is as weak a link as most on here do.

People like to make snap judgements and stick to them no matter what. If you were against the trade up for Claiborne, him being a bust confirms your instincts and makes you feel smarter.

But as far as a top 10 pick goes, he has been very disappointing.

I still can't believe we burned a top 10 pick on this guy, and even pitched a 2nd runder in to do it
