When it comes to finding a replacement backup quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, the same three options seem to be cropping up.
It's either down to Robert Griffin III, Johnny Manziel or someone from the NFL draft. Who it'll be is anybody's guess.

The Manziel option seems to be dwindling with every new headline that crops up with the former Texas A&M Aggies' off-the-field issues. Our own Brandon George recently said that no one at Valley Ranch wants the guy. So (tentatively) cross him off the list. With Jerry Jones, you never know what'll happen, but we'll eliminate him from the mix.

That leaves RGIII and a rookie. Jones' infatuation with Griffin wasn't nearly the same as it was with Manziel during the draft, but he has grown to like the QB. As George notes here, the Cowboys' owner gushed over Griffin during his rookie year.

Not everyone is on the same page, however. ESPN's Ed Werder recently said the following to NFL Live:

"Not a lot of people in Dallas think he's a great fit in Jason Garrett's offense, and I'm told that Scott Linehan, the offensive coordinator, is really not a fan of RGIII's and doesn't think he would excel with what the Cowboys would ask him to do," he said.

That goes against what Jones told George on Feb. 9.

"Well, I'm a fan of RGIII," Jones said at the time. "He's got it. He's a driven young man. I'm a big admirer of RGIII."

So who will win in a battle between Jones and Linehan if the owner wants the former Baylor Heisman trophy winner? Only time will tell.

Not a political rant just making a point. If some say the President shouldn't pick a Supreme Court Justice because he is almost done with his term. Couldn't we use the same logic and say why should a coaching staff who is one more bad season away from typing up their resumes having say over if we should get RG3 or anyone else this should be strictly scouting and a GM call

IF Garrett or Lin had a comparable, I would say they could have this thought or feeling. But other than maybe Kitna and Romo, no one has really been successful in Garrett's offense. So maybe, thinking outside of the box, and having an RG3 might be a decent option.

what decent QB has Dallas had behind Romo besides Kitna? In my view this has more to do with lack of talent behind Romo not the system.

Guys, do not magically appear. I am sure Garrett could say, go sign this guy or draft that guy, but it really has not happened.

I hope you're right and I hope it's Wentz.

Good Lord, I hope not.

Goff is hands down a better overall athlete.

Which is a lot of the battle to grooming him as an NFL QB, IMO.

If Dallas plans on a return to the playoffs this year #4 will not be a QB unless they go all out in free agency and that is unlikely to happen.

I don't think no rookie, regardless of position, is going to mean playoffs or not for this team. Now I do think the team can make the playoffs but a single inexperienced player isn't going to dictate that.

Goff is a better athlete than Wentz? I think you need to go back and watch some games.

Wentz is physically superior to Goff in every single way.

Not stating who is at fault be it Jerry, Jason or both only pointing to the fact that we have not had decent talent behind Romo.

Disagree. Sorry.

Better feet, hips and head. Hands down.

I don't base my observations on a highlight reel or stats.

They'll be putting on their big boy pants so that stuff is out the window.

I just see a better player.

Wentz = Weeden 2.0, IMO.

It don't matter who you pick at #4 this coming year.. No position player will make that kinda impact. But if you looking to the future QB is the place to go..

If Bill Parcells were here, this would be mostly a defensive draft, and quarterback would just have to catch up with the reality.

If Parcells were here Dallas would already have a couple of fatty McFat-fat's at DT that could play.

Hayden would own stock in a moving company with all the practice squads he'd be bouncing around from.

He is on his 5th team so you tell me how he is working out? Like many he has had a few ups and a lot of downs

I think my point was, he did well with the packers, left and was not good. Ao, that tells me it is either their system or how they scheme.

Agreed, but this group started the repair on the offensive front, first...

or like many backups they are up and down, if they showed consistency in their play they would be competing for a starting role yet I don't think anyone would buy for 1 second that Flynn is nothing more than a backup who is as Forrest would say is like a box of chocolates

Yes, sir.................they did and I couldn't argue the horse before the cart scenario.

On paper it seemed the defense was top 5-10.

A LOT of guys didn't pan out on the defensive side, tho........incredible is what that is.

I was speaking of his 1st go around, when everyone thought and Seattle paid for it, that he was a starter. Garrett can not even muster 10% of what Flynn showed in GB.

Just because Jerry likes him doesn't mean Jerry wants to sign him. You can like and admire someone and not think they're a good fit for your team.

There are a lot of women I like and admire I wouldn't marry.

Especially at da clubs
