ahhhh...the best laid plans of mice...men...and the Packers run defense.

They should be more worried about how they are going to account for Bryant in the lineup this time
...because the only way they will be able to corral Elliot (if not with the front seven) is by bringing down safeties...or run blitzing...and you can ask Pittsburgh about the latter as a strategy. Getting caught in the wrong gap...could present a few problems.

I understand. Stop the run first and foremost. And make the QB beat you if he can.

The problem with that is with Dez, Witten, Beasley, TW, Butler, etc. And our QBs ability to run out of trouble and get a first down.

Dak can beat you. And he can make it look all too easy at times.

So GB is just blowing smoke. The Cowboys are going to get theirs.

GB's only real hope is to try to stop the Cowboys in the red zone. Turn TDs into FGs. And hope their offense can outscore the Cowboys.

But the way the Cowboys defense has been playing lately, that's going to be very tough as well.

The bottom line is GB is simply overmatched. If they were at home. Maybe I could see a push. But in the cozy confines of AT&T in front of a rocking and rolling home crowd?

31-17 Cowboys.

The Cowboys' first matchup with the Packers was a meeting of the NFL's top rushing offense vs. the top rushing defense.
And Ezekiel Elliott helped the Cowboys get the best of that matchup with 157 rushing yards.

This time around, the Packers are emphasizing discipline in their efforts to halt Elliott, according to PackersNews writer Ryan Wood.

The Packers need to take Elliott off the field to give Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers time to work his magic.

"He does a real good job," Packers linebacker Clay Matthews said of Elliott, "of kind of finding the holes and being patient, and that's where he makes a lot of teams pay. I'm not saying we have to do anything special, but we need to do our job. If you look at the runs he hit on us the first time, it was guys just doing too much or kind of playing outside the scheme.

"That's what we're focusing on this week, is being accountable and doing our job and being where we need to be."

The team told PackersNews they were more concerned with sending a message and getting big hits in the first matchup.

"When a guy makes a mistake, [Elliott] attacks right where you make a mistake from," defensive tackle Letroy Guion said. "That's what makes you pay."

The running game success wasn't about GB being out of place. They got manhandled and that isn't going to change. Our up front 5 are giant beasts that literally knock people on their a#@es. There is no scheme or strategy that can stop that. Unless the GB Dlinemen and linebackers all gain 50 lbs of solid muscle through the use of anabolic steroids in the next 3 days, they won't stop Elliott.

They'll put 8-9 in the box and sell out on stopping him. That will leave Beaz, Dez, JWit and others with single coverage: it's as simple as Dak hitting throws he's hit all year. He might miss a couple on first drive due to nerves but he has a calmness about him. He'll hit more than enough throws to loosen them up. Then we'll run Zeke. We WILL have to pass to open up the running lanes IMO. They'll be laying for Zeke. Dak will make them pay like he has all season. Key to game: Dak on O and our front 7 on D. We win 30-24.

We thought Elliott slapped 157 yards on you b/c he was a great RB running behind a great RB.

Thanks for letting us know it was due to the fact that you guys suck at doing your jobs Clay...

Love hearing this. Zeke's gotten in their heads. He basically said they need to be perfect. They are going to be over thinking things and that will take away their aggressiveness.

So, let me get this straight.

Per Clay Matthews, the key to stopping Elliott is just scheme integrity.

Good luck.

Win or lose, no matter how the rest of the team plays, I just get the feeling Zeke is going to explode in this game. Seems like a guy that turns it to the next level at the big stage.

Can't you pretty much say that with every RB? When we make mistakes they kill us so we have to play mistake free.....that goes without saying in the playoffs.

If the Packers really want to stop Zeke they can certainly do it. Now what are you gonna do with Dez,Williams,Beasley and Witten?
You can either lose getting grounded and pounded or picked apart. Choose your poison.
