My only question is, do we have a CB that can play with OBJ.

Time will tell, but we do have a front 4 once all playing at full potential that will play with Eli's mind. Last year in the 2nd half of the OBJ game of note, we held him in check in the 2nd half with over/under coverage. But...they didn't have Cruz available. Best thing is to get Eli dancing in the pocket, throw some to the other side

I honestly think that Scandrick may be able to match his athleticism. However, I keep seeing Carr on the wrong end of that great catch.

Watching our game against New Orleans last year makes me wish we had kept Sterling Moore instead of essentially trading him for White.

White was awful, but in his defense he was having to start at corner. He might be better in a backup corner role or at safety (which I think he is better suited to play).

I'm right there with you on Moore, he's the one guy that kind of hurt losing.

Agreed, I hated losing him. I hope Patmon can take the next step and take his spot.

Same. But I wonder if the team saw something in him that we weren't seeing. Because from what I could tell, we didn't make any effort at all to resign him. And I don't think he was asking for that much (or maybe he was?). But I am confident that a combination of Patmon and White could replace him.

Edit: ah, I see that he signed for 1 year, $1.525 mil with Tampa Bay. I can see why we might have considered that too much. Did not realize he led the team with 14 pass breakups though. Damn.. :/

What if it was what they saw in Patmon?

With White, I hope playing in Rob Ryans scheme made him look bad. We all know what that scheme can do to DBs.

With White im next expecting the next Revis, but it would be nice if he can be a dependable sub package CB. Considering his experience in the NFL, I may actually be more comfortable with him as a CB/FS flex then Jones

That's true. Also, I think it might be best to keep Jones primarily at one position for his first season at least. I know he's supposed to be a smart kid, but just in case I'd be careful about overloading a rookie with responsibilities.

I see a lot more depth than most at CB.

I'm 100% for Jones going to FS.

We have Carr, Scandrick, Claiborne, Patmon, and White at CB. A good group in my opinion.

Claiborne is a liability. We need to stop talking about him and fooling ourselves onto believing he will contribute anything positive to this team.

All he knows how to do is screw us. If he starts, we are doomed.

Yes, T. Newman was much better when he departed and got back into Mike Zimmer's scheme. It appears that Rob Ryan's scheme was a big problem for him.

I've watched several games that White played on the All-22 and I believe that he is more talented than Moore.

I would prefer to just keep Jones at CB.

There is a valid point/counterpoint as there are examples on both sides of the fense, but Im just not a fan of moving young players around getting them to play multiple positions. I think it can be a huge detriment to there development. I understand nessecity sometimes forces your hand, but with Jones I dont see nessecity right now

Everyone knew the off season mantra - upgrade the pass rush. Beyond that anything else is a bonus and I believe we have improved the back end. Not sure I would use the word 'excellent' to describe our CB situation but it looks far more promising than a year ago.

It looks like our strategy and luck paid off for us. The Cowboys were looking at upgrading the defensive line in the first round. We were looking at Bud Dupree in 1st, but he was taken. Then, we "shifted" to pick the best corner left on the broad. And then, Gregory begins to slide right to us in the 2nd. So we get our pass rusher and our corner. Since a running back isn't available (one that we want), we continue to invest in our offensive line (which, in my opinion, is more important than relying on a lower round running back and more important to Romo's health) with the pick of Chaz. Then, lol and behold, no team pick Lael Collins, and we sign him.
The way I see it, we have fortified the most important units on the team through the draft and free agency. If there was a position we could afford not to worry about, it's running back. Not that we don't need a stud, but a great offensive line will work wonders for the running game. And then next year with Chubb, Derrick Henry and Ezekiel Elliott possibly coming out, we can get a stud running back. And then, watch out.
This team is being built very nicely and smartly, and it's exciting to watch.

Chubb is only a sophomore this year. We cant get him until 2017 at the earliest.
