That was the original post bb, from the other thread. If there's another one, it has not been one you and I were discussing.bbgun;2945309 said:Gee, you still can't seem to track down my original post and quote me honestly. I wonder why that is? And why is this even coming up in a Staubach thread?
I didn't say it's a compliment, I said it is a description and I defined it. You're reaching.Yeah right. "Fatalist" is an obvious term of endearment. If you squint hard enough, maybe even a compliment.
Sorry, I do not agree at all.More like well-deserved wariness, assuming all of us haven't been in a coma for the last 13 years.
Pay attention, I am often skeptical. You ignore that constantly. Some of us see the team and the front office for what it really is (good, even elite in certain spots, but ultimately not good enough). But we have nowhere else to go, so we come crawling back, kinda like "battered wife syndrome." You don't go 13 years without a playoff win by making wise or sound decisions, so a healthy dose of skepticism seems to be the appropriate "emotion" around here. You obviously disagree. So be it.
Did you hear my comments about time of possession? Obviously not.
What about run defense? Again, obviously not.
What about Flo's penalty? There seems to be a theme here.
I will defer to Bill Belicheck who said teams who win game #1 are 50% more likely to go to the playoffs than teams who lose game 1. Dallas has had more success in September than any other month dating back to Tom Landry.I hope you're not lumping me in with those fans, because I did no such thing. Again, it's more than just one game. In a sense, the Cowboys are victims of their recent regular season success. We're used to seeing red-hot Septembers and Octobers followed by disastrous Decembers, so Tampa qualifies as "low hanging fruit" in the grand scheme of things. Yes, enjoy the victory, but don't overlook some of the more ominous aspects that could prevent this team from accomplishing its ultimate goal: a championship. Better yet, don't disparage those who are so "impolite" as to notice said pitfalls.
The GM stuff just makes blood shoot out of my eyes. GMs do not win or lose football games. But whatever, the Giants GM deserves his keester kissed so smooch away. For starters, they had/have a real GM, not to mention superior depth. My post-victory criticisms of the team's performance in Tampa have been pretty muted so far, so I'm not sure what you want from me. I may be a "realist," but I'm not gonna be a dick and start ragging on certain players five minutes after the gun has sounded. All of that can wait. Just because they theoretically can win it all doesn't mean they will. Defeating Tampa 50-0 wouldn't have changed my mind one iota. I'll hope for the best but brace myself for disappointment.
At least you responded to the question. No one else will even do that. I won't hold my breath that anyone actually answers it.
I think that one is funny at least. Thanks for the kind words. And in my defense, I haven't used the word "sheep" as a pejorative in well over a year. Maybe longer.
I have no comment about other forums at this time. Let them run themselves how they wish.Every site has an "internal culture." The Zone is pro-Jerry/pro-team in general/anti-media, DCC is wildly anti-Jerry, and forums like The Ranch or Blogging The Boys fall somewhere in between. It might surprise you that I find DCC to be too cynical (i.e. hatred for Jerry morphing into malice towards the team itself), which is why I do the majority of my posting over here. Not sure where you get the "lesser people" vibe. If anyone's been accused of being less than a real fan, or "encouraged" to find a new team, it's the cynics.
I have never liked the "find another team if you are a cynic" mentality. I often defend the cynics when someone accuses them of being a fan of another team.
It's real simple where I am going with it. The nature of a large segment of sports fans is fiercely loyal to the teams they love to the point of fanaticism. It doesn't take a Phi Beta Kappa mentality and a Mensa card to figure out if you constantly bag on someone's team they are going to get edgy. Why act like it's a shocking thing? It isn't shocking at all. Fans of every team do it. You can call it Pavlovian behavior and I will probably agree to some point, but for the love of all that is holy can you please stop acting like it is some kind of phenomenon to this forum? Is that too much to ask? That is what I mean by charade.Sure I'd get bashed, because that's classic trolling. Not sure where you're going with this.
Charade? What charade?
It is never going to sink in. People worship their teams how they choose to do it not how you dictate it should be. You haven't got that kind of stroke Ace. No one does. You can be a fan without being fanatical--a point I've made time and again, to no avail. I'll keep beating that drum 'til it finally sinks in.
