Sean Lee on comments about Cowboys being 'Hollywood': 'If you're distracted or you have lost focus, it’s your own fault'

Difference between coaching Cowboys and Bears? Joe DeCamillis: Dallas a bit more like Hollywood

Cowboys LB Sean Lee on team's December woes: "We need to win We haven't gotten it done."

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee appeared Friday on KRLD-FM to talk about his return from injury and the Cowboys' game against the Chicago Bears this week. Here are some highlights.

On how he feels coming back from injury to face the Chicago Bears this week:

“I feel really good. It’s been tough. I’ve been lucky to have a bye week. I’ve been out for about four weeks, but I’ve only missed two games, and I’ve put a lot of hard work into trying to get back and try and miss as few games as possible … This was a game I was looking forward to getting back to and playing.”

On comments from former Cowboys players that playing in Dallas was too “Hollywood”:

Lee comment on Ratliff is class. Well played, I like where Lee is mentally and from a team leadership position. If we want to show up Ratliff, we should do it with a victory Monday.

All the Ratliff hysteria shows he's in too many fans' kitchens, cooking with a skillet...

i like what lee said but if you don't think there is some truth to what all of these former players and coaches are saying then you're just burying your head in the sand.

I like the nice shot he took at Ratliff.

I get the sense Sean kinda wishes he played OL this week.

Yeah, I'm sure there's some truth to it, but in the end, it's really just an excuse, and a pretty convenient one at that.

no. its only true if you, like lee says, get caught up in that crap. if you focus on football and dont worry about the rest its the same as playing for any other team, in any other city

A leader leads....people like Ratliff complain and take shots....there is the difference...Lee took his shot, and I am SURE that someone on the Bears team probably had to tell Ratliff that he took his shot because the rat likely only heard the positive stuff

Lee = class act and a leader, he didn't let others come out in the media and say things....

If we had 53 guys that approached the game of football every week like Sean Lee, Hollywood or not we would always be competing for championships.

Then there are the weak minded players.....

While I agree with the Cowboys bèing Hollywood so is much of the NFL.

Do you think Richard Sherman doesn't know cameras are on him while he's acting so goofy on the field. Of course he does & he's doing it for the attention. Same as TO. Randy Moss. Brett Favre. Ochocinco. All those guys did that. And the list goes on& on.

It's all about being noticed. it all started during the Landry years with guys like Henderson & Duane Thomas. Guys who did & said outrageous things for attention.

And Dallas is considered a glitz city. Money. Big cars.

The spoitlight is always bigger in Dallas. Always has been. During Jimmy's tenure as well.

I think the difference was the culture though. In my opinion, the two aren't synonymous. The Cowboys have always been Americas Team, and teams always tend to play us harder (just listen to their pregame speeches before they play us). But during Jimmy's days, the players knew who was the boss and Jimmy kept their noses where it should be, and shielded them, for lack of a better term, from distractions.

This current set of Cowboys sort of embraces the spotlight which isn't really a knack on the players necessarily. Jerry has created that type of environment. Sometimes, despite my displeasure with Garrett [at times], I do feel somewhat bad for him knowing he has to deal with Jerry and his antics.

But Sean Lee is also 100% correct. It's the players jobs to stay focused. But I don't think the culture Jerry has created makes it all that feasible.

Here is the full quote, which is one for the Cowboys' ages, and should be posted above the entrance to their new facility in Allen, IMO.

"I think we have an unbelievable opportunity to focus on football here. We have everything you could want to focus and become the best football player you can be. If you’re distracted or you have lost focus, it’s your own fault.”

That's a chicken dinner comment right there. Love me some Lee. Just wish we could bank on 19 games a year from him ;)

The Cowboys are always relevant in the NFL. The Bears, not so much. Very few teams get as much attention as the Cowboys, and that is not all Jerry's doing.

Yeah, I don't think he took a shot at Jeremiah as much as answered a question about the "Hollywood" comment.
He answered it bluntly and truthfully, but didn't pot-shot anyone in particular.

He took the high road on Jeremiah.

Having said that- injury bug aside, who wouldn't kill to have Sean Lee on their team?

In fact, it's a comment that is equally applicable to current Cowboy players as former ones. Sean Lee is a RKG.

Irvin got caught up in the Hollywood life but was still able to become a HOF player because he didn't let that interfere with his play on the field, if you can't handle the big lights of Dallas then good riddance because you're clearly a big fish small pond player. I have my issues with Romo but players like Romo Dez & Lee embrace the big stage and don't run & complain like other former players.
