News: DMN: Source: Cowboys still have interest in free-agent DE Jason Jones

If we draft Goff or Wentz then we'll look back on this offseason and realize that their actions told us all along what they were going to do.

After the season Stephen Jones said that backup QB was the top priority.

It's April and im not even sure if Moore is signed and there is no way he goes into next season as their only option.

Yep. I agree. If they go QB, it'll have been obvious from the start and we just didn't see it. When 6 of your 30 visits are QBs, that probably says something, too. I hope so, though, because we need better QB depth yesterday.

I'd be ecstatic if we took Wentz at 4 and Derrick Henry at 34. Combine those two with a young offensive line, and our offense would be set for the next decade.

I've got the feeling that Jerry and Stephen are at opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to the priority being placed on acquiring a QB during the offseason.

While Stephen stated early-on that finding and acquiring a backup QB would be a top priority in this year's offseason and the draft, Jerry seems far less convinced.

I think the Cowboys will draft a backup QB but, not until the 3rd round at least. Look for Dak Prescott to be the choice if he is available. The boys are not going to draft
their next franchise QB for at least 2 years.

Hard to say what Prescott may ultimately have to offer in terms of being either a starter or a backup but you might be right. Prescott seems to me a likely candidate to become a backup.

I would too bro, it's time to start working on the future! You have a young offensive line to protect a young QB and block for a potentially good young RB, not excluding a veteran WR in Dez, who's not over the hill either.

If either can push Hayden off the roster that makes them pretty special to me.

If the Boys don't acquire Jones, I'm betting they'll look to the draft to find a replacement for Hayden. The DT prospects are plentiful this year.

They signed Hayden:'s replacement. And his utility up to this point has been a warm healthy body. If he's no longer soaking up snaps then what good is he?

I could see him coming to camp on a cheap deal and being among the final cuts.

If he's on the opening day roster something has gone horribly wrong.

You think Henry has a decade in him?
The guy is a bull without moves...he's physical, but no way that guy signs a second contract in my opinion....5 years and he's on his way to another team as a lesser player.

He's one of my least favorite backs in the draft. It will be interesting to see when he's selected.

Hayden is no longer on the roster. And Broaddus has referred to Hayden & Mincey as bridge players that they have moved on from.

Hayden is no longer on the roster as we speak -- he's a goner. I wouldn't be too surprised to see another DT being acquired in the draft as backup security. Crack open your favorite beverage.

I agree the offense would be set. But we lose most of our games because the defense cannot make a play at game time. I know we're so close if you only look at final scores, but other teams know they can move the ball at will at the end of a game if need be.

Romo has by FAR the most thwarted comebacks, which is games we took the lead with under 5 minutes left to only lose the game in the end because the defense couldn't make a stop. I've lost the total number, but he was in the order of twice the next next closest. We need playmakers on defense.
