Mildly ironic? What does he mean by this? Oh, because of the "most hated" thing. Well I think that's part of what makes them America's Team. Everyone in America has an opinion about the Cowboys, always on the lips of haters and fanatics alike. America is obsessed with them.

Eagles were the most-hated fan base.

Sports Illustrated put together a list of the most hated people, places and things in the NFL today and said the New England Patriots have surpassed the Cowboys as the league's most hated team.

"For the longest time the Dallas Cowboys held this spot, making their claim to being 'America's Team' at least mildly ironic," SI's Chris Burke wrote. "But the Patriots' recent title — and the issue of deflated footballs that hung over it — may have tipped the scales in the court of public opinion."

There is one piece of the Cowboys that does show up on the most hated list though: the Cowboys' mascot, Rowdy.
