lol, so we're simple on offense and defense? Uh oh.

He's got a point too, the 3-4 is supposed to make it a guessing game for the offense, it shouldn't be that predictable.

That said, we did lead the league in sacks (thanks in no small part to Ware single-handedly), so if they know we're coming, they don't seem to be able to do much to stop it.

I think he's more upset we don't play aggressively in the secondary at all. It's all about protecting the big gain and tackling after the catch.

that's it, because reintroducing the 46 look is pretty ****ing aggressive

Newman is a watered-down TO, wish he would sthu

A lot of you are a bunch of drama queens.

He is RIGHT about that.

While I don't think that should be discussed on the microphone, and should be in house. He is FARRR from T.O as one or two of you accused him of being.

Newman is one of the only consistants we have. Romo has a lax attitude, we need SOME players to speak up since he won't.

I really can't believe how quickly this board turns on players. There have been "newman says" articles for TWO FREAKIN DAYS, and you guys compare him to Ellis who has done it for years, and T.O who has done it everywhere he has ever played.

Get a grip people. He is right about that.

I'd say 90% of the posters here were complaining about the corners playing so far off the line, the same people complained about not getting pressure outside of ware, the same ones complained about not using stunts on the d-line.. And now those same 90% are bashing the guy's opinion (who actually is important, unlike us) for agreeing with us.

I don't get it.

Mu, it's not about whether he's right or wrong

Exactly.

He has to know he's just contributing to problems the team is having right now. Unless of course he doesn't have good sense and listening to him, I feel that he knows better.

Here's a interesting nugget from Terence Newman's recent interview with WFAA Ch. 8's Joe Trahan that won't make the pages of People Magazine: The cornerback said he believes the Cowboys' defensive calls tend to be too vanilla.

"We're pretty simple on our defense, I think. We line up and teams are calling out what we're doing," Newman said. "In the middle of games, they're calling out, 'OK, he's coming, he's coming,' and they're right.

"I would like to see us get a little more moving parts, like Pittsburgh and Baltimore; those guys have fun. A 3-4 is supposed to be designed where you don't know who's coming. You don't know what coverage we're gonna be in. I think at times we got a little plain and teams capitalized on that."

The Cowboys led the league with 59 sacks last season. That's eight more than the Steelers, who ranked second, and 25 more than the Ravens. That's pretty impressive for a team using a scheme that's too plain.

There are plenty of things to question about Wade Phillips, whom Newman was otherwise supportive of during the interview. Doesn't X's and O's wizardry rank pretty far down the list of concerns about the defensive coordinator/head coach? Or maybe Brian Stewart made all the bad play calls.

I never thougth high of Newman. To me he is overrated.

But what ever has happend to this guy the last season is a whole nother story. First i was happy because i thought "hey maybe i am wrong and this kid turns out to be a leader or maybe will develop in one".

But my worst nightmares came true. He is what he is and that is a very naive little kid.

So why doesn't he simply shut up ? I just can't understand that guy. Please Tnew develop a sense for situations and start thinking before you open your mouth. This is just ridiculous.

Man apparently we're very simple on both sides of the ball. That's a great thing to know about the work this team is supposedly putting in on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.

Here we go again.

Is DMN going to take a question from the 19 min. interview Newman did two weeks ago and make it a blog entry every day until they have mentioned all of the questions?

we were simple in the 90s too. we had 4 running plays and only a handful of passing plays. so what was the difference? EXECUTION.

our defense was vanilla back then too. but our players were fast and active. they swarmed the ball. once again, EXECUTION.
Is that why we got rid of Dav Schula as our OC? What about the years with Bruce Coslett? ANybody that says our play-calling was 'simple' with Norv Turner is shooting hot air. While the formations were not complex, the type of plays that Dallas ran out of their formations was unpredictable. They had an effective play-action and play-action is founded upon confusing the defense. If it was simply about execution, then why not just hand the ball to Deion Anderson and let him run for TDs? If it was about execution, then why did Brian Stewart get fired and Dallas started to rack up sacks immediately afterwards?

Why did I ever give these clowns a second chance?

DMN looks really pathetic.

Haha Newman has been quite busy late huh... i agree with him on this even though we did lead the league in sacks. i would like for us to be more aggressive with our secondary approach and i think Wade started to do so later in the year. Hopefully he brings it from day 1 this year and Newman if your gonna talk at the very least STAY HEALTHY FOR ONCE!!!!!!!

Maybe, instaed of calling for more creativity, T-New should be concentrating on not getting worked by rookie wide receivers in in-or-out games.

:hammer:

One reason players want "Creativity" is to cover up certain weaknesses.

Hey Newman, why don't you just do your job and shut the hell up?

Hilarious. Everyone saying they are taking Newman out of context. He is utterly refusing to shut the hell up.

Why are we rehashing this crap all over again? This is the same stuff he said last week in that interview, word for word.

What is DMN spinning?

Do the research on this and come back and tell everyone what you find. Go to NFL.com and look for the piece they did on this subject. Look at what they put up on the screen, for the quote, and look at the key sentences they left out in Newman's quote. They took him out of context. They deleted sentences that explained the heart of what Newman was saying. He was defending Tony Romo.

I'm not doing it. Your knowledge of the subject is lacking or not wanting to see the truth.

Again, post the original quote and then, post the NFL.com clip that leaves key sentences out of Newman's quote.

As far as the DMN is concered (JJT), I wouldn't want to be on his cognitive level or ethical level. ? Go ahead, agree with the DMN.

If they know who is coming, they're sure doing a terrible job of preventing them from getting to the QB.
