Tony's blitz picker upper is no longer here. Until I see a RB prove otherwise, I am more concerned now than ever that he is going to get blasted on one of those cleverly disguised blitzes next year. Despite his controversial status around his untimely fumbles, Demarco did a rock solid job of quickly identifying and stoning the blitz last year. I don't need stat gurus. I saw it with my own two eyes.

Now, if we draft a Gurley (or some other quality RB early) and he proves to be that all around possibility at RB, I will find more ease in considering what the next two years will look like for ol Tony.

I think you can coach blocking.

Chris Bonner. A name that's being mentioned quite a bit as the draft approaches but not so much here. D2 guy who's going to need a little time, but has all the physical tools. Others may be more ready to step in, but I like his upside more than any other QB in this draft, more so than Winston and Mariota. And unlike Winston or Mariota, he could be had much later in the draft.

Thought I'd leave this in the Fan Zone for a time since there will be talk of Tony in the thread. It can be moved as you see fit.

I wouldn't draft another QB this year UNLESS I could bet someone after day two whom I thought could really learn under Tony and the rest and maybe be the guy down the road. On the other side of that coin is the fact I think Tony will play at a high level for 4-5 years. They may think it better to wait another year or three to draft a QB.

What ya think? How long will Tony play well? Can he beat the 38 year old blues?

I'd wait at least another year, possibly two. In the meantime, we can see if we can develop Dustin Vaughan. When/if that doesn't pan out, it might be time to turn to the draft.

Do not want. The only guy on that list that intrigues me for Dallas is Grayson. I'd just as soon stick with Vaughan as most of those project players, myself.

When we invest in a QB, it's going to have to be a high pick. And then it ought to be a guy we think can already play in an NFL offense who just needs to work on learning the system and making good decisions at this level.

That's the thing, since we don't have to invest yet, it gives us the chance to look at Vaughan. If Vaughan shows he might be good enough to at least be a No. 2, then next year, we can get another developmental prospect. That gives us cheap options to look before having to go the first-round route.

Agree. This particular draft the QB just is not overwhelming.

A good draft class would put Petty in round 4. This whole draft is weak though, not just the QB position. DE after the top 3-4 is weak, DT is weak, DBs not too deep, LB position is weak also. WR, OL, TE are below average for a normal draft. Lucky for us the only spot that has some good depth is RB but we might not even be looking at that because......A? might be on his way.

And you can always trade for a QB if you need a year or two's service. These guys are looking at who's coming out to college must yet the college ranks.

Don't want mobile QBs .I want the prototype NFL pocket passer.

Thats what you want. I prefer someone that can scramble to some degree. Ive been done w the pure pocket statue after Testaverde and Bledsoe.

DT, LB, and CB are far from weak for our scheme in this draft. They are actually the 3 positions I feel pretty strongly about getting an immediate contributor past the 2nd round
