i don't know why fans think it's smart to cut orton. why give away 3 million and encourage others to do the same thing. make him write you a check if he does'nt want to be here. if he is'nt willing to do that then just keep fining him.

I got to meet Brad at the Texas sports HOF when Irvin was inducted. I had several athletes and coaches sign the ball and when I meant Brad I asked if he would sign it as well. He was a bit taken back by the request telling me I'm not a player or coach. I said True you are the voice of the Dallas Cowboys, now will you please sign the ball. lol

Brad Sham's great! The best way to watch Cowboys' football is to turn off the TV sound and sync the radio broadcast to the TV one.

have to say,.,, that is about as an honest opinion as I have heard from a Cowboys media guy.....Like his honesty.....wish Mickey Spags was the same way........think he has a good idea on where this team currently stands.....

There will never be another like Brad Sham and I respect him even more after reading that. But I hope Brad doesn't post here. He'd be criticized and accused of being a bad fan with an agenda.

I seem to recall in 1995 Brad Sham made a comment about Switzer and got himself fired from the air.

Dale Hansen had been especially rough on Switzer. The claim was Switzer accused Hansen and Sham of making up stuff on the air. This was about how Jimmy left.

Dale went off on Switzer on air. That might have been allowed, but the context was Switzer black balled both Sham and Hansen then denied it.

Sham stated on air that Switzer was lying or Jones was lying.

To hear Brad tell it now, he wanted to do baseball.

But he clearly said Switzer was lying on air. I heard it. I was watching with several people and there was a collective Ut Oh!

This link is the sanitized version by Sham now. He is a great play by play guy. But he did bite the hand that fed him. This Ft. Star Telegram link is a little wacky.

He is honest. That is not popular with some fans. I respect him for it.

This along with continuing a bad precedent... They need to stop it hard... now!

Sort of OT, but I've been critical of Sham before. Too often he gets caught up in being buddies with Babe and doesn't do the first responsibility of a PBP man, which is to describe the action on the field. He doesn't have this problem on Cotton Bowl or other non-Cowboys games.

But does anyone have HD radio and listen to the Cowboys station on 105.3-3? Anytime I've heard it they've been replaying old games from the 2009 season, and it's pretty cool. You can hear the happiness in his voice when we're stomping the Eagles or upsetting the Saints (although that one wasn't decided until late). Pretty sweet hearing the replays of those old wins.

I don't really know what they should do. He will probably show up at some point. If/when he does show up, then what? I don't think anybody really wants him on the team at this point.

I'm not really certain that he just wanted to retire. He could have just come to the mandatory practices and intentionally played poorly.

It really seems like he is trying to get their attention for some reason. You don't really need to hold out to get cut, a poor performance in the preseason would take care of that.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Orton picked the wrong time. The club feels Jay Ratliff jobbed them and there won't be any more free money handed out. My thoughts are, at this point, I would not cut him. If he wants to retire, write me that check for the 3 million bonus money and file your papers. Otherwise, if he sows up in Oxnard, he can be the third qb this year and never dress. Those are MY thoughts. I'm fine with Brandon Weeden as the backup.

So we pay Orton to not dress and have him eat up a roster spot? How much sense does this make?

Dont know yet. Not sure he's picked them out yet.

Really wished that Sham knew this.

Marinelli's Delta Tau Chi name makes a difference.

Do like Tampa Bay did with Keyshawn or Philly did with Terrell and send him home for the season for conduct detrimental. Somewhere along the line the team has to take a harder stance against players just taking the money and running. No team has been taken advantage of like the Cowboys... That stuff with Ratliff should have been criminal. I know that it hurt more being timed up with Spencers injury, which is also maddening, but it is ridiculous and needs to be addressed.

No, you make him show up and work out. If he is going thru the motions then you fine him. If he continues to be childish then you send him home under conduct detrimental to the team and make him pay back the team or sue him. He has a home that can have a lien put on it.

I think those players still got paid while they were gone.

I don't think so. When you're suspended, they withhold your pay during that time. There's a max the team can suspend him, but they can do it.
