Machota is a Dallas Morning News writer who focuses heavily on the Cowboys.

Here's his Mock 1.0 for this season.

http://sportsday.***BANNED-URL***/d...-potential-1-overall-pick-falls-cowboys-4?f=r

Although he think's Dallas will ultimately trade down, in this 1st mock he has them picking at 4.

1. Tennessee: Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss.
If the Titans aren't blown away by a team trying to move up to get one of the top quarterbacks, Tunsil makes the most sense. He could be Marcus Mariota's Tyron Smith for the next decade.

2. Cleveland: Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State.
The Browns can't possibly pass on a quarterback with the second overall pick. As long as another team doesn't trade with Tennessee to get Wentz, he'll go here.

3. San Diego: DeForest Buckner, DE, Oregon.
Jalen Ramsey is a strong possibility, but don't sleep on the Chargers picking Buckner, the player many believe to be the most talented defensive lineman in this class.

4. Dallas: Jalen Ramsey, DB, Florida State.

Team needs: DE, CB, RB

The Cowboys should feel very fortunate that Ramsey is still on the board. He's arguably the best player in this draft and would significantly upgrade a major area of need.

5. Jacksonville: Myles Jack, LB, UCLA.
If his surgically-repaired knee checks out, Jacksonville could end up getting the best overall player in this class. Jack is the athletically-gifted type player linebacker coaches dream about.

6. Baltimore: Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame.
The consensus No. 2 offensive tackle in the draft could immediately step in and protect Joe Flacco's blindside for the foreseeable future. Joey Bosa is another possibility given this scenario.

7. San Francisco: Jared Goff, QB, Cal.
Chip Kelly would be thrilled to land perhaps the draft's top quarterback at No. 7. Goff's experience in a spread system could make for a seamless transition into Kelly's offense.

8. Philadelphia: Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State.
Here's a scenario Cowboys fans would despise: a potentially dominant player they'd like to see running behind their offensive line going to their hated division rival.

9. Tampa Bay: Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State.
How did Bosa fall this far? If the Cowboys and Ravens pass, it's possible. The Bucs would be absolutely thrilled to pair Bosa with Gerald McCoy along their defensive front.

10. New York Giants: Leonard Floyd, LB, Georgia.
Maybe a little early for Floyd but another significant defensive upgrade this offseason for a team that has spent its last four first-round picks on the offensive side of the ball.

He definitely sees himself as a corner and isn't timid about saying so. I think a team would have to at least give him a shot there or risk a headache.

Ramsey will play both, depending on the team and situation...like Hardy playing DE and DT, it's no stretch at all to imagine a player like Ramsey moving back and forth, sometimes matching up with a team's top threat and other situations manning center field.

I think if you take Ramsey and in warming to the idea, he will have to be able to play CB some. Look down the road to next year and who you will have at CB. Mo and Carr gone, and either jones or Ramsey is going to have to play CB. I don't think CB is his strongest position but I also don't know that you can go into next year with your second and third CB gone. Now we could add another CB in this draft but we need lots of positions and not sure two of the picks, picks high enough to get sure fire talent, is going to db's

Best player in the draft but doesn't really have a position? Wasn't very good a CB. I hope this is Morris Claiborne all over again.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Taking the best player in the draft is as bad a draft as possible?

Makes no sense.

He is probably the best athlete in the draft. How he can be considered hands down the best player is debateable.

Just call it like it is. Taking Ramsey would be going BAA. Not BPA.

I hear that ever day. ESPN, NFLN, draft articles. He is the best and there isn't much debate.

Again, best athlete.

It has been parroted that he is the "best player" but rarely is it pointed out why he is the best at his position.

All you hear about are generalized observations about his astonishing athleticism.

He's fast. He's strong. He can jump.

Very very little is mentioned about technical mastery of his position. Just more vague superlatives and that he is "versatile".

Why? Because nobody can even say what position he is the best at.

This is not Deion Sanders. This is not Charles Woodson.

I can honestly say I have never seen any draft where the "best player" has so many question marks, even down to what position is his best professional position.

Haha he said Dallas fans would hate Philly if they drafted Elliot cause we see how a dominate rusher behind our line would be. ......hold on and let me ask Murray his answer to that

Ramsey isn't likely to be there for us, but I can't fathom anybody not liking him as a prospect at 4. Neither can I understand people not realizing the value of DBs, though, which seems to be a basic misunderstanding of how football works at the NFL level.

I want a QB, but Ramsey's a great consolation prize if both of them somehow go before our pick.

Can you regale us with all the elite DBs taken in the top 5 in the last 5-10 years?

Of course Ramsey is "the best CB since Claiborne"

Hargraves us a better CB and I wouldn't take him in Rd 1 if I were making the decision

Ramsey is not a generational talent and 5 years from now we will be talking about how good it was that we didn't pick him while people like you will be running around evading questions about why you wanted him

But that's not what happened here in this mock draft.

But that's not what happened here in this mock draft.

Yeah, but he needed SD to reach for Buckner at 3 to make it happen.

If Ramsey's there, SD traded their pick to somebody who wanted the second QB.

If Ramsey's there, SD traded their pick to somebody who wanted the second QB.

Or they took Ramsey themselves. With Weddle gone, I can see them having the need for a safety.

But I tend to agree with you in that I think that #3 pick is more likely to be traded than any other pick in the draft.
