Possibly. If he can be developed, he might make a good part time pass rusher. Not sure he's starting material, I never really saw that in him.I don't see how he fits into their plans. Not only is he the wrong fit for the new scheme, but he seemed like a bust last year. Maybe if he can gain some weight and start producing. But its obvious they aren't counting on him for anything more than rotation duty.
Of course they did. I recall McClay saying how close it was between him and Thornhill.People seem to put this pick entirely on Rod when both Richard and McClay were both on board and spoke very highly of him when he was drafted.
Not pointing the finger at you, just so many people ignore that fact.
I'm also not giving up on Hill by any means, and my comment about a trade to Oak, or wherever they play, was tongue in cheek. Admittedly not one of my better efforts lol.Of course they did. I recall McClay saying how close it was between him and Thornhill.
I wont be convinced Marinellis influence wasnt the difference at the very least.
I get the feeling the Hill pick was decided upon in advance of being on the clock. Marinelli had a crush on the guy big time.
What do you mean by “done”?
they’re not going to cut him.
Longterm? Shelton & Jefferson will be back on the market within 2 years; Harris & Billings by next season.Tiny bit is a strech. They kept woods who was there best DT last year and then replaced Collins (injury prone and garbage against the run) and Convington (career backup) with McCoy and Poe. That's a pretty significant upgrade
Long term they would of been better off with some of those affordable younger guys like Shelby Harris, Danny Shelton, Quinton Jefferson, Andrew Billings
Not to mention that this staff will beget a much tougher team. Hill needs tough coaching, and tough coaching he will get. For him personally, this coaching change is the best thing that could've happened to him. (If he works out, of course). There is only one for him to go, up. He was a healthy scratch because Rod didn’t mesh personalities with him, and once that happens Rod is done with you. With the new regime they might not care about the personality issues.
As long as he can be productive on the field he can be as aloof as be wants. If he can’t succeed on the field when given chances to grow as player, he is basically at risk of being a camp casualty. Especially, if they draft a tackle or two this spring.
I would think they would give him more time.I think unless he has a super camp, he may be out on the street. Hill was a pick from the old coaching staff and I don't think they like smaller DT's.
How is a 2nd round pick 58th overall considered a bust coming off his rookie season?I don't see how he fits into their plans. Not only is he the wrong fit for the new scheme, but he seemed like a bust last year. Maybe if he can gain some weight and start producing. But its obvious they aren't counting on him for anything more than rotation duty.
Garbage Trashscobar. Unforgivable pick by the FO.Dont forget about Escobar! Remember the hope everyone was fed that he was going to be the missing piece to the redzone offense. LOL
Hold off on the anointing oil.
But the truth is after 25 years of futility most fans have something they don't like about this team. Whether it is the dad and son way of running things or a player acquisition or a players contract. Most have something they don't like about this team. Some are still mad about the firing of Tom Landry. Some are still mad from the whole Jimmy Johnson situation. For me right now it's the drafting of both Conner Williams and Trysten Hill. I'd didn't and don't like either of those guys, because I saw them as backups the moment they were drafted. Second round backups. And that's why there is so much bickering among us fans because most have something that they don't like about this team.
You are not suppose to draft backups in the second round. IMO.
How is a 2nd round pick 58th overall considered a bust coming off his rookie season?
Everybody wanted Marinelli gone, but want to dismiss Hill as a bust just because Marinelli put him in his dog house for some reason?
Im willing to give the new staff the courtesy to evaluate Hills ability to contribute first, before condemning the player.
Its short sighted and a reach at this point to say that its obvious that this new coaching staff is not counting counting on him for anything more than rotation duty.
McCoy and Poe additions were needed on this roster even if Hill was allowed to play without a leash last year.
Hill's skillset is a carbon copy of Mike Daniels. Yes, they would."seemed like a bust". Meaning, his display, or lack thereof wreaked of bust potential. IT was obvious he simply didnt have the strength to hold up.
And to comment on the new coaching staff counting on him.........its seems blatantly obvious to me. From what we can see the #1 priority for the new coaching staff was to go out and sign, not ONE, but TWO starting DT's. And both of those DT's are the complete opposite of Hill. Big, strong guys. Hill is a in the old mold of Marinelli. Definitely not someone the new coaching staff would pick. And then there is the side fact that they still refuse to get rid of Crawford who also plays DT at times. So from where I am sitting, Hill is at most, #4 on the depth chart as we stand here today at best.
Unless he shows vast improvement he could be fighting for a roster spot. If he don't mature he might be flipping burgers really soon.
