What is an athletic body? Do you mean trim, muscular, lean, cut? Those have nothing to do with athleticism. He is Hispanic. They are not a lean race of folks, but they are dang good athletes. Samoans aren't lean, but they are athletic. Eskimos aren't lean, and I bet they would be great athletes if they didn't live butt deep in snow!

Funny how it started as a joke and now we are in the middle of the annual Romo is fat training camp thread.

Even though Jon Machota, the very guy who took the picture, admitted that Romo in fact is not fat and that the appearance of him being so was due to "poor camera work on my part" in an article addressing this snapshot and the resulting internet hysteria. His exact words. He even apologizes to Tony at the end of the wrtie-up.

Is he running with a dip in his mouth?

I think he does dip occasionally. Or at least when the wife's not around, she doesn't seem the type that would like that.ha

But all things are right with the world, training camps started and we have a Romos fat thread where folks aren't joking

Not common where I grew up describing a man's physique. Prob 'cause I didn't spend any time thinking about that, or want to. That's me though.

Not sure where you grew up, but that's kind of academic. If you visit Urban Dictionary, for example, it's one of the first defined uses of the word. Not sure if it really matters, anyway.

Normally I would say who cares about his physique. But wouldn't you think as fragile as he has been that he would be living in the weight room? Clearly he hasn't.

What does going into the weight room have to do with his injuries he has had? Collarbone and shoulder? Not really going to help much. His body build has nothing to do with his injury history.

And like the pics show, it was just a bad pic. He's some overweight lard coming into camp.

Romo has been injured several times in his career and forced to sit things out for a while. He's also married, which oftentimes tends to lead to extra pounds being added on. Recall that at his age, it's simply the natural order of things. He's not the first one to come to camp with some extra weight to be trimmed off, assuming that's indeed the case. I'm willing to bet he'll look noticeably trimmer by the time the regular season rolls around.

Again...he reported at 231 and his playing weight is 230-233 range.

He also DOES practice with rib protection because that's what he plays in.

The truth is he broke a couple collarbones and punctured a lung- neither of which have anything whatsoever to do with his weight.

Romo gets hurt because he's a tough SOB who hangs in the pocket and takes his hits. Neither of which has anything to do with people complaining about his stomach weight.

The ones who laugh off the observations of Romo looking like he's out of shape every year are the same ones who act blindsided when he suffers an injury every year. The truth is he's been one of the most injury riddled QBs in the league over the last 6 years. And given the way he shows up to camp every year it shouldn't come as a surprise.
The weight has nothing to do with the injuries
