Perhaps the biggest boat anchor holding back the Dallas 2022 offense was this:
Ezekiel Elliott first down runs

Here's the scoop
-When Dallas ran Elliott on first down (121 times): 3.5 yard average,
-When Dallas did anything else on first down (361 times) : 5.4 yard average

We know Zeke has always been Jerry's Pet Cat. And many justifiably suspect Kellen Moore was pressured into emphasizing Zeke runs on 1st down to appease Jerry. (If you doubt that we can discuss)

I don't think Jerry intervenes in a lot of areas. Do believe he has particular fixations.

Zeke starting over Pollard last year was to the point where it was weird. Everyone saw who the better player was. Those first down runs by Zeke right into the middle looked like Moore was trying to check off a box more than accomplish anything. When illogical stuff like that happens, people naturally look for an alternative explanation and the easy one here is that Jerry was dictating playing time, starters and touches to the coaches. Not sure if true but I don't have many other good explanations.

And the very first thing Big Mike says upon Moore's departure:
"Kellen Moore wants to light the scoreboard up, I want to run the damn ball"
This after we were already one of the more run-heavy teams in the league!

Big Mike = the corporate guy who says whatever needed to gain the boss's approval. McCarthy knows "Run the Damn ball" lights up Jerry's fading brain circuits. Gets him more time on the clock as Head Coach, and more cherished massages.

I mean Zeke for a 3 year period was the best running back in football. He clearly was the player that Garrett wanted to draft first in 2016. You can argue that Elliot made KM one of the top offensive coordinators in the league. I do agree the contract made the Cowboys stick with Zeke longer then they should have but the offensive line and Dak trusted Zeke more then Pollard. Even last season when it was clear Zeke was washed.

Like so many running backs, Elliott wasn't so good after 3 or 4 years. Jerry (and a lot of fans here) failed to track Zeke's fast decline to worthlessness.

And...Yet... Jerry with his puppet boy Head Coach still talk of bringing Zeke back for a Redemption Tour.

Bring him back baby! Another 2 yard run on first down!

I don’t know what happened to Elliot if I was to guess he lost his patience confidence. The only thing he had left was outstanding blocking abilities. Was he truly that beat up.

Never once crossed my mind that Jerry insisted on running Zeke in first down like that. If he did that’s silly and insane because it didn’t work.

I think it was honestly Kellen. I know Jerry’s reputation but he’s letting coaches coach.

They would bring him back to compliment Pollard. Zeke is still very good in pass protection and it seems that may be a concern for their backs. Y’all think Mike is a puppet? Interesting….

Zeke is not coming back. Jerry is just pandering to Zeke crowd.

jerry probably isnt that specific, he might say we want elliot to get 15-20 carries, and zeke is the starter.
We want lamb to get the most targets, stuff like that.

Never happened... Jerry has NEVER dictated who plays and how much, biggest false narrative here. NEVER proof he intervenes in anything.,sorry show me proof the OC/HC job is to devise Gameplans and call pays and adjust in games. Did jerry MAKE KM only call 16 run plays in the niner game? not use malik UMM NO WAY!!. BTW what the league average on 1st down runs need to see all 32 teams ..btw 3.5 x3 =1st down not bad for run game or power back ES22 lived off that in the 90s..He had entire years with averages at 4.0 or under, FACT

to add to that without showing he run on first downs and sell these OTHER things you talk about doesn't work, try harder to understand how playcalls set up other calls.

again, stop the nonsense with conspiracy theory's about jerry , its never ever been proven its fan made narrative..
