Do Not Expect Big Foolish Moves in FA

Lol, you are correct.
Jerry will have his brain transferred to an android body and be our GM for the next 500 years!
I'd rather he go old school and have his head mounted on DJ Kalids body.......reminds me of the movie where Ray Miland had his head transplanted on to Rosie Griers body.

I don't disagree with your logic, but at the same time why free up $60 million in CAP space if you're not going to use it? Why push $37 million of Dak's contract down the road when he is coming off a non-contact injury, and his worst year as a professional if you don't need the money to sign another player? Unless they are planning on giving Micah a front loaded deal, all that CAP space makes no sense. And no one does front loaded deals.

The Cowboys are sitting on $54 million in CAP space now and once the extend Micah they will have at least $60 million. They must have a plan for that money. Perhaps they will look to sign some tier 2 free agents to one year deals? I expect that will want to keep about $20 million in their pockets to roll-over, but otherwise they have to have some idea of something. The Cowboys must have some free agent targets they are looking at other than the usual vet minimum type players.
The Jones are scaring me with all the cap space.
Do we trust their football acumen to make quality signings over splash?
It would be nice to see something other than dumpster diving however.

Not that many free agent signings actually work out as expected. The play well, but few play up to the money they get paid. The Eagles last year got lucky with Baun, Becton and Barkley I think. I give them credit for finding those players and making them successful, but a lot of free agents don't play up to their contracts. Then again, Becton and Baun were not costly free agents.

Look at Christian Wilkins. He signed a 4 year deal for $110 million and got hurt the 5th game of the season.

I don’t expect big moves

I expect competence and signing quality players that either can start or be key rotational pieces

That’s all I ever wanted….not unproven 8 year vets
Heeheehee. You said competence!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do think you wanted to use "demand" instead of "expect"?!

Because if you know our FO (which i think you do) you cant expect from them the things you want.
And incompetence instead of competence.

We don't need big huge free agent signings, we need multiple players similar to Kendricks who can come in and fill holes for a year or two.

we have shown over the lsat 30 years that even if 1-2 players away we won't spend....status quo
Worse. We are so incompetent we can't even identify who those players are that we need to put us over the top. And this has been going on a long time.

Remember when we were ferting around w/ Pacman Jones back in 08? While we were wasting our time w/ that ninny, SF quietly went out and signed Justin Smith. Who was a huge factor in their super bowl appearance.

Add Justin Smith to that 09 squad, and we jump up into contention.

We desperately need someone to identify needs and the players we need to acquire to take the next step. W/ Jerry, it's always a CB or WR while we get run over in the run game.

And another. While we were out signing McCoy, Poe, and Haha, for the around the same money we could've signed monstrous DJ Reader, who was instrumental in the Bungles super bowl appearance. And would've taken care of that pesky NT problem that won't go away(because Jerry sucks at evaluating DTs).

Yup. And how do you get that? Need a GM who can identify these players.

Jerry is just such a bigger problem than most people realize. He is so much worse at being a GM than most realize.

The Cowboys need to draft their next franchise QB, and build around him. Anyone who thinks Dak is going to ever play a full season again is dreaming, and the Cooper Rushes of the world ain't gonna bring you home a Lombardi Trophy.

Yeah, and imagine if we knew Pacman's pee wasn't his?

I think we all agree that we already know they're not spending big, so that leaves out tier 1, we're hoping they tap into tier 2 this off season. Tired of waiting and waiting for tier 6
Many fans may be happy if they sign tier 1.5 players.
Cost less than tier 1, better players than tier 2.

Oh, no, I just gave you a thread idea.

No thanks they come with too many insults, clearly insults happen when it's against the rules of the forum, ask me how I know, I've mastered the book,I sleep with it, work with it, shower with it!!!!

My expectations are very low.
What I would HOPE is Jerry as a businessman realizes he needs to sell hope to sell tickets and thusly decides to actually spend some money in FA this year.

I think you need to add talent period. You obviously removed a lot in the last couple seasons but allowing guys to hit free agency and not replace them.
Combine that with mediocre to poor draft results the last few seasons buoyed by some elite drafts prior to that and you land here, in purgatory.

My personal view of FA is that unless you are doing a one year rental or something like that to plug a big hole, never sign anyone that is older than 28 or 29 to a multi year big contract.
Now of course if you are talking QB that is the exception but otherwise I would hold firm to that.

now IF you think you are a player or two away from the Brass Ring then take the chance.

BUT we are not there; or even close.
