Do some fans not even realize how much this franchise has bottomed out?

Some see the McFraud Error, er, era as those 3 consecutive 12-5 seasons of regular seasons as success.
Others remember his hiring press conference and the reason WHY he was hired as a former SB winning coach.

How did those three 12-5 teams ultimately end up?

Regular season success will NEVER be the true measure of success.

The thing is, if you look at regular season wins since around 2006, the Cowboys rank among the best in the entire league.

But no team has won so many games over such a long time period and had such a poor postseason record. And this spans several coaches, quarterbacks, coordinators, and schemes.

Jerry and Cap Boy have been the only two constants. They are consistently unwilling to make the bold move that separate the "good" from the "great". And this chasm is easy to hide when you beat up bad teams. It can't be hidden in the playoffs.

Seriously, can anyone name just one position that has improved since their last playoff loss?

I thought the goal was to get better each season..

When was the last time a player was replaced but someone better?

The last few years seen a lot of comments from some fans making fun of our players who leave in free agency and saying it's only about the money.

This year it's Jourdan Lewis and Tank taking the brunt of the homer comments. They're all about the money because they are going to teams like the Jags and Seahawks.

I guess my question for those people is do you actually realize how bad this team has been since 1997?
  • Almost at bottom of list of total Playoff Wins in NFL.
  • Haven't even come close to sniffing a Super Bowl.
  • Never made it out of the Divisional Round.
  • Long list of bad Head Coach hires.
This is not an expansion team. Why would any player NOT think he had a better chance to win somewhere else?
Compared to most teams they do not have a long list of coaching hires. Bottoming out implies they could get worse.

We have both fallen from grace and been at a lower point in 1999. Then there was the Campo years into that era of Hutch, Henson, Carter. 2014 and the worst defense in cowboys history while Wade and Marinelli are telling us Hayden and Ball are good enoguh. Garrett canning Callahan and the team taking a dive.

There are plenty of similar places in the past 30 years and several much worse points than where we are today.

The only thing different is the level of entitlement of fans.

Bold> since 1996.
Well that isnt accurate either as far as being "bad"
The bad started with the campo years, and jerry traded 2 1st round picks for galloway, who
then got hurt and never really did much.
Jimmys players were pretty much gone by the time campo took over.

And the jones boys were buying the groceries.

I remember out QB's being tackled as they dropped back, and the RB tackled as he got the ball.

Parcells got the team back on track, but they were never good till romo started late in parcells
last year.
Then came wade and JG, then JG, ....for a long time lol then MM, and now here we are.
I didnt like JG as OC then when jerry made him HC, I gave up.
I hang around just out of curiosity now.

I like shotty as HC, but jerry and cap boy are still buying the groceries, so
I dont think he has a chance to do much besides make playoffs then losing, same as usual.
Shotty will have to be a great HC just to make playoffs ! lol

Stockholm Syndrome. I want better for my team. Some hate that we complain about wanting better. They are so used to losing, that they are happy being “good enough”
Give me a break. It seems if you argue against any negativity that automatically puts you into some other camp of opposites.

How about the negativity echo room has gotten to stupid proportions and it is making it difficult to figure what is going on.

Mob hysteria is not good.

They aren't trying to win.

It's a tired debate around here.

They are focused on what makes the most money, not a trophy.

Mid season drama, off season contracts being drug out, weird contracts, and early playoff exists all cause the most outrage/buzz which Jerry uses to make money off of with his sports media assets.

It's kind of fun to discuss 'make believe' as if they are trying to win, but they arent.

Gotta keep the illusion going by acting as if this post is 'crazy talk'

My personal opinion is Jerry only hires coaches that will sign NDA's that allow him to sabotage the team in the playoffs. Jerry takes over when we make the playoffs to ensure an early exit to enrage the fan base, which he profits off of.

Hi Steven Junior. How are you?
Funny you pick Amari and Miles. Do you realize the only team you picked was the Browns. We are the Dallas freaking Cowboys and the only worse team you can come up with in the last 30 years is the Cleveland Trash Browns. HaHaHaHaHa. That’s genius and sad !!!

You talk about the Eagles? How many championships have they played for since we last played for one? The 49ers went to SB, broke it apart, went back to a NFCCG, and now broke it apart again and will most likely get back before we attempt one. History proves it. Yes, even the Skins have went to a championship game since we last did. Another state of ridiculousness!

Don’t you know the internet wasn’t a thing the last time we competed for a championship? We didn’t have cell phones, Ceedee lamb wasn’t born yet, Mariah Carey was the #1 artist in world, Happy Gilmore wasn’t alive yet, The Tampa Bay Devil Rays didn’t exist, and nobody had even heard of a DVD. You keep dreaming if you want.

Who cares about divisional trophy’s and regular season wins. I couldn’t give a rats behind about being 12-5 when you lose before the championship game round!!! You’re either a winner or a loser. And we have been losers for three decades.

I think that money is the main thing that most players look at. The Cowboys aren't going to be as bad as Washington was just a year ago when they were drafting at the 2 spot. It's likely that the Cowboys will be healthier than they were last year and could actually have a better year than they did. They could actually improve.
And there we have it
Jones shill right on cue

Jerry has most fans programmed lol just make the playoffs, and it is a good year,
and just wait till next year , when we get better !
Cowboys are often "close" to a SB run or so many fans think.

But the truth is they have never been actually close, they come close to winning div round games,
but never do it.

The Cowboys haven’t been nearly as bad since 97 as some fans make them out to be. Someone posted the Cowboys have been the worst organization in the entire league over the past 30 years. Fans act like the Cowboys have been in the dumpster bringing up the rear in the NFC East practically ever year. The team has been competitive most years they just haven’t had playoff success. We’ve won the NFC East 6 times since 97 and have had 2 number one seeded teams. We’ve had some very successful regular seasons but it hasn’t gone well in the playoffs. Yes, it’s been very disappointing and frustrating not having won a divisional round game or reached a SB in almost 30 years but there’s teams that have had it much worse than the Cowboys over that period.
Though I totally agree with that you’re saying… being the one seed twice and not even winning a playoff game those two years are close to inexcusable.
Sometimes I wonder if Jerry just trade Micah for picks and dump Dak and get that #2 pick you mentioned while having additional 1st rounder for Micah.

Preach it brother.
I'm giving you a personal standing ovation.

The Lions and even Washington has advanced farther than we have. Even the Bills have as well. That's how bad it is... and zero is being done to change that.

I'd rather the Dallas Cowboys FRONT OFFICE know the true state of the team. Hearing Stephen Jones constantly saying "we like our guys" and we have a lot of great/really good football players on this team tells me they will not do what it takes to be a SB team, not just a playoff/winning team.

If they can have a decent run game they can improve the offense.
Also need a decent # 2 wr.
Defense though needs a lot of guys and I dont know about eberflus and his marinelli scheme.

Some of that's true but don't underrate some of the things they've done the last three days most of it's been defense I mean literally Solomon Thomas will contribute they brought back Rogers the other defensive tackle the rookie we let go and then brought back he will help 2 linebackers that I guarantee are better than the depth we had last year, they brought in Fowler probably a starter on the other side of Parsons and Turner to be the depth as a pass rusher and remember we played a lot of the season last year with a bunch of hurt players on defense they'll be coming back slowly but who knows when they're gonna be back.

But don't act like they haven't addressed the defense they mostly have dressed the defense so far in the offseason when they brought back bell and Thomas we still have starters the other two safeties. The big one is resigning OSA I mean these aren't moves I mean I don't know how some of you guys don't see that these are moves they're making it to where the draft becomes BPA and they're not gonna have to reach..

But yes right now the biggest hole I see is at corner especially slot corner but they can move bland back to the slot but then they would still need an outside guy so they're gonna have to work that out whether it's both in free agency maybe Gilmore comes back and then you add a guy in the draft it may even be a first round starter at corner i mean it's wide open there at #12...
