In Nico we trust. After 7 years it’s clear we couldn’t win with Luka and Lebron the greatest player of his era can’t either.

Did you see how the PG Kyrie started next to Luka? Thats what Jalen did during the end of his last season in Dallas and in the playoffs that year. The backcourt of Luka and Jalen took them to the Western Conference Finals that year. You don’t remember that? Jalen started over 60 games that year. When he left Nico traded for the PG Kyrie to play the role that Jalen would have played.

I felt they traded for Kyrie with him having to start. Him and Luka had to develop the chemistry they had.

I didn’t realize they played 60 games starting together. I seem to remember Brunson having his best games when Luka wouldn’t play. Their ceiling wasn’t high based on their defense but who knows if they had PJ and Lively next to them.

Personally, I love that we landed Flagg. But, I just watched the actual draft lottery show. This system sucks compared to when they had the bingo ball cage. That was fair and impossible to rig bc nobody put their hands on anything. They turned the thing until a ball dropped out and then they announced the name of the team on ball.

This new system hides the actual process of selection. It's just a stack of envelopes handed to the assistant commish by some guy from Earnst and Young. He then opens the envelopes in the order of the stack in front of him. No shuffling. Nothing. They don't even need a cold envelope to rig this thing.

The series vs the Jazz where Luka was hurt...that's where Brunson as a #1 option was born. He carried them.
 
I'm not for trading PJ, hope they move AD, but Nico loves his dirty jock so whatever. Keep all the big men unless a great trade for a PG/SG shows up.

I think LA would take that trade....but I don't think Dallas would take it, which is kinda of crazy to think about. I'm a huge Luka fan and still PO'd about the trade - but I don't think I would make it either.

Now, don't get me wrong. Luka is better than Flagg and that's not really close. But AD when healthy is still a top 15 player in the league. Flagg/AD > Luka

I feel dirty even typing that....

PJ probably has the most value - but I agree. He's a dog and I love him on the team.

PJ works best as a PF
Flagg probably works best as a PF but will play SF next season
AD works best as a C but wants to play PF w/ a C next to him
Dallas has two starting C's
It's kinda of a mess of depth they have

They really need a playmaker at G - to not only cover for Kyrie while he's out, but to take some load off him when he returns. I think Bwill can handle the scoring aspect but needs some work on the actual facilitating.

If I were Dallas, I'd sign Ben Simmons to a min deal - (yes, don't laugh). He can still defend and distribute the ball. You won't need much scoring from him
I'd work with LA again and see if I can get a deal done for Reaves. He doesn't work with Luka that well and they really need a C to pair with Luka.

It's be something along the lines of

Reaves/Maxi returning for Gafford/Martin/Hardy - money works there. Dallas might have to throw in a pick from them to bite..

LA gets their center to pair with Luka - a 3/D player in Martin and scoring off the bench in Hardy.

Dallas would get their Guard to help now and when Kyrie gets back.


Pre Kyrie return:

Reaves/Simmons/Bwill
Klay/Max
Flagg/Naji
AD/PJ/Omax
Lively/Maxi/Kai/Powell

Then

Kyrie/Simmons/Bwill
Reaves/Klay/Max
Flagg/Naji
AD/PJ/Omax
Lively/Maxi/Kai/Powell

No you need AD. PJ could be odd man out. I think Naji is better and he’s cheaper and you get Flagg. I like PJ to me he’s our heart and soul by I don’t know how they find time for him unless they start Flagg at the 3.

I'm just lampooning Nico. The net of that trade would be to hand LA the #1 pick for free while alienating half the fan base just for fun.

AD can help in street clothes, plus he'll net the best return in a trade.

Don't want Maxi back under any circumstances. Is Reaves a PG or distributor? I just know he gets the whistle. The Mavs have enough ammo to get a really good facilitator to go with Kyrie and float the team till Ky returns.

Maxi only used for salary matching purposes
Reaves can be a creator with the ball and might even be the best choice at PG, even when Kyrie comes back. Kyrie is more of a 1/1 creator and also moves off the ball extremely well. Would use him the same way they did with Luka.

The problem here is, your guard defense is going to be horrible....so throwing in Simmons/Max/Flagg should help with your on ball defense.

Like I always ask people has AD ever missed a playoff game? If he’s around for the playoffs that all that matters. But I mean everyone is tradeable for the right price. But I hold AD in high regard. If I trade him I need a Giannis type deal.
