You give stats with great detail to support your stance/argument for his return, but you left out one very important stat:

-Brett Maher missed 4 straight extra point attempts in the NFC wild-card game against the Bucs; Making him the first kicker in NFL history to miss that many in a game since 1932.

The next game against the team that I hate more than any team in all of sports {the forty whiners} Maher had an extra point attempt get blocked; The execution of his kick was so poor that he would have missed it wide anyway. Granted he made 2 field goals, but it was easy to see that he was struggling MENTALLY. He lost his CONFIDENCE and that is a very serious problem to overcome.. I feel sorry for him because that dreadful day will always play back in his head.
Kickers are a strange breed. It seems like once they lose their mojo they never recover.

I would look at Nick Folk if he gets cut. Last year was 32 of 37 (kicked in bad weather) including 4 of 5 over 50+ In 2020 and 2021 was 92%+ on FGs

I think they're looking at the whole picture. As in the playoffs and what he did before 2022....and he's also still a free agent. He went in for a tryout with the Chargers didnt' he? He left without a contract. That says a lot.
I wish they'd go for a good kicker rather than wait and choose from the rejects nobody else wanted. We need a good kicker for a change. We used to have good kickers, now it seems like it's the least of their concerns.

You left out one important detail...

Every kicker misses kicks but only the best overcome them. As you stated yourself, Maher's 1 FG attempt which was block would have eventually missed wide left...BUT...AS YOU STATED...Maher ended up making the 2 FG attempts afterward. Nailed them. That's a sign that Maher could learn from and improve upon his mistakes during the playoffs, especially against the #1 Defense last season.

If as a coach you are unwilling to realize that last game improvement and ability to improve, then you are the problem. Why coach? Doesn't the term "coach" mean "to teach"?
You're missing the point, this isn't a coaching issue.. Coaches/Coordinators get scapegoated far too often, sometimes it's deserved, but these are grown men that make a lot of money. Be RESPONSIBLE and ACCOUNTABLE for your own actions.

What are you talking about? Heed your own advice. 1 person is the player/student. The other person is the coach/teacher. 1 performs. The other teaches. Every player is going to make mistakes. No one is perfect. But an excellent coach notices those mistakes and teaches the student how to fix them.....unless the teacher actually doesn't know. Which is it?

Bro, Vizcaino sucks. Pretty much just a temporary stand-in.
How do you know he sucks? We have not seen him in games yet.
From what I read so far. He has not missed that many FG attempts from OTA's, mini camp.

They want to see how he does, give him all the reps he can get in before bringing in competition during TC.
Nothing wrong with that. No big hurry to do so, as to who is really out there to sign. At leas t K's that have lost it or older than the pyramids.

With him being the only kicker on the team, the pressure is on to see if he can be the team’s solution for 2023. This week, he started on the right foot after a rough outing last week during OTAs.

The front office has been adamant they are leaving no stone unturned with finding their next kicker, but Cowboys Vice President Stephen Jones says:

“We don’t see the guy that we want to trigger on yet. We’ll work through that.”

Pretty much means Vizcaino is not good/consistent enough to make the Cowboys feel comfortable. Vizcaino is not even as good, accurate or kicks as long as Maher was last year. You want to keep a lesser kicker?

I didn't say keep him. I said they do not need to bring anyone in just yet.

It seems like it use to be nothing to get a good kicker. I remember Nick Folk.....then Dan Bailey.

I just sort of thought you just find one. I guess kind of like we did with Maher but there were some warts there. But i'm not liking where we are at with the position. Not at all.

He has the yips, which can be a death sentence for a Kicker.

No one is. But it's a long time before TC. 6 weeks.
It is. But how do the options get better? At best the hope is someone gets cut because a surprise kicker showed up and they were able to make their veteran expendable. I guess that's the hope. Also how you end up with guys the caliber of Mike Vanderjagt and Greg the Leg.

Brett Maher (2022) stats:

FGs:

20-29 yards: 9 of 9 made
30-39 yards: 5 of 5
40-49 yards: 6 of 7
50+ yards: 9 of 11

Total: 29 of 32 FGs made with a long of 60 yards and a 90.6% completions overall percentage.

Extra Points:

50 of 53 attempts made for a 94.3% total made.

78% of Maher's kickoffs were touchbacks. That's very good.

Sounds like Bones Fassel is the one who sucks.
They think he got the yips.

Those stats are good but the yips are bad. Some guys never recover or do you want it to resurface in a playoff run. We have enough problems with dak.
