Do The Cowboys Have Enough Balls To Go Around On Offense?

...Will the Cowboys play more snaps on offense this year?

Up until now, we’ve assumed that the number of snaps would likely remain about the same. But there is room for growth in these numbers. The Cowboys played 1,010 snaps on offense last year, which ranked 20th in the NFL. That’s a big product of the fact they run the ball so much, and aren’t attempting to hurry up play so their defense will be less exposed. New Orleans led the NFL with 1,105 plays on offense. New England played 1,056 snaps, but still ran the ball almost as much as Dallas (482 to the Cowboys’ 499). Perhaps that would be a max number for Dallas.

Even 40 more targets would allow the Cowboys to increase production from some players without cutting as much into others.

Should be an interesting year on offense.

Hand it to Zeke on third and short, instead of getting cute with empty packages. That'll gives us plenty of first down and more plays.

Zeke should have a monster year.
But those hoping for 2000 yards rushing may want to lower that target.

They have have way too many weapons in the passing game to not use them.
Balance with a lean towards the run game will give us max effeciency.

Indeed. Don't get me wrong Zeke is a specimen and an awesome football player but we are simply too good of a team to just rely on ONE player all the time.

Now, on the flip side we don't need to be trying to get too cute and get away from our bread and butter (punishing ground attack).

We definitely have the ingredients for an elite offense, though, that's for sure. Can't wait to see these guys on the field for real.

Some receivers could have their feeling hurt...

AH poor babies only make how much money a year
The Cowboys have always forced the ball to Dez, other than a few games last season. If they quit doing that, he is going to cry about it.

He backed down from the crying last year.

He still had plenty of targets overall. It's easier to shut up when the team is winning.

His numbers were ugly in the 2 losses to the Giants:
Targets 5, Receptions 1
Targets 9, Receptions 1
He only had 18 yards combined in the 2 Giants games.

They forced it to him when he returned from injury:
Targets 14, Receptions 4

I know this is out of the intended context but... I wanna know if they have "enough balls" to be creative on a regular basis. So many different kinds of weapons to use... the offense can still be 'ground-and-pound' while not being boring and predictable. It's up to Linehan to prove it can be done. I don't think JG is a bad coach, I just think he's too conservative.

You have a team like NO which is high octane out if necessity because the defense can't stop anyone. Then you have Dallas which has much more methodical offense because its defense was also suspect. If NO had the ground game if NE or Dallas their numbers would not look as gaudy.
