I think - that Jerry gets the $ from direct sales. Like Albertsons, Dallas Cowboy Pro shops, internal to the stadium.
The sales through major retailers like Academy or other stores is an NFL split.
Very few other NFL teams have the side deals Jerry has going on like the pro shops.
This sounds right.
Many years ago, all the teams split everything, no side deals. Cowboys, Raiders, Steelers, accounted for probably top 40% [so it seemed] and sales of team merchandise.
All TV revenue, shared equally, as well as the merchandise sales. so a team, like the Chargers, didn't promote them selves, but yet got an equal share of that revenues.
When JJ bought the Cowboys, he didn't think this was right, if the Cowboys sold 20% of the market, he should get a bigger piece of the pie. They debated this for years.
Then the NFL as well as other owners, seen how JJ could make money for them too, individually as teams. They eventually allowed teams to market their own deals.
Also Jerry was responsible for the HUGE TV contracts that later were starting to be given. I think he was the one who held out on some TV negotiations with CBS & NBC, so then along comes FOX and blows the offers out of the water.. And it all took off from there.
