Do we carry two kickers next week?

They probably have David Buehler on speed dial.

I agree with OP. If we lose in the Playoffs due to a missed Maher kick after that performance in Tampa Bay heads should roll.

I was shocked they didn't start going for 2 after the first couple of misses.
I was too, but my assumption is that they didn't feel like they were in jeopardy of losing the game, and wanted to give him time to work through whatever was causing his yips.

I say yes! Next game is too important.

I don't care if Maher's ego maybe bruised. If he can't handle having someone pressuring him then he's not going to perform in pressure situation anyway.

No, you roll with the one that helped you get there. I'm not sure, maybe someone else can chime in, but maybe him and the holder were having trouble kicking off grass?

Heck no. You want to find another kicker, that's understandable, but you don't carry two

No that is a waste. If you don't trust Maher to get it right enough to bring a 2nd kicker then just sit Maher to begin with.

I think so but I don't know who that cost you roster wise!

After the 2nd miss I would have pulled him and just gone for the 2 pt conversion. I would have tried to save his leg all I could. Even his kick offs were short. Noticeably short.

At least they got the TD where they normally would have gotten the 3. IMO, that made up for it. And at least Maher [hopefully] got that out of his system.

A few years back, Tiger Woods couldn't hit a chip shot to save his life. His shanks were so bad that all he could do is bump & run a 6-iron. To this day, there's only one person I would trust to get up & down to win a major tournament and that's Tiger. Poop happens. It's how someone responds to adversity that makes them the best at what they do. I'm sticking with Maher and could see him being the MVP of the SF game.

The next game is so important that you want to trust a kicker off the street more than the guy who made over 90% of his kicks this season?

Players have bad games, sometimes. That includes kickers.
I don't know man. Missing 4 XP is more than a bad game. It's such a meltdown, I've been unable to find a valid comparison to another sport. You have to question if he can bounce back. Hope so....

I would rather carry 0 kickers and go for it every time/2-pt conversions. Let the punter do kickoffs. That Maher performance last night was a disgrace to the art of kicking!

I can't dismiss it as just a bad game. The man missed 5 straight extra point attempts. I wouldn't think that was even possible.

That's the yips. I would have already cut him and said some derogatory things about his family.

I’m not for carrying two kickers, but when a kicker has a bad game they can go into a funk. I’ve never seen a kicker miss four extra points in a game. Maher had his problems in the past which is why he got released by the Cowboys the first time around. Hopefully he gets back on track next week.
